I was in Hong Kong 24 years ago, so I don't think I'll recognise it. Think I'll be into the champagne tonight.
Woo-hoo! Go girl!
I imagine the same in 2007 after 20+ years away, but I think you'll still recognise quite a lot, although the airport has changed! It's now on Lantau island and you might catch sight of the Big Buddha on the way in during day time. (Worth a day trip and continue on on the bus to Tai O stilted fishing village... about as unlike Kowloon as you can get!.. if you want to explore out of town.)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tai_OAlso worth doing is the ride on the harbour in an authentic Chinese junk, the Duk Ling. Only on Thursdays and Saturdays and you have to book as soon as you get in to town to be certain of a ride. The office is on the HK Island side of the Star Ferry terminal. Sadly, used to be FREE but now HK$50 - still reasonable.
Enough now... turning TOO green! Have a great time!
