I was born in England in 1960 and raised in an academic family.  After school I took a drama course in London and worked on stage and TV.  It wasn't until I starred in a TV adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice that I became famous.   Suddenly I was a heart-throb and Hollywood offers landed on my agent's desk.  During the 90s I made the films Fever Pitch and Shakespeare In Love, but it was the Bridget Jones movies that cemented my star status.  Since then I've made other comedies - but I relish roles that test my acting skills, such as The King's Speech, which won me this year's Best Actor Academy Award.  Happily married and a father of three, I am Colin who?
