Organisers of Gay Ski Week QT are offering a lucky couple the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to this year’s event in Queenstown.
The Southern Hemisphere’s largest Winter Pride event sees hundreds of gay men and women converge on Queenstown between August 30 and September 6 for a week-long celebration of skiing, socialising and evenings full of fun.
Organisers Sally and Mandy Whitewoods have created four competitions for people to win a trip to Queenstown from the USA and Australia.
“It’s fantastic we can offer people in the US and Australia the chance to experience Gay Ski Week QT first hand. The prizes are just phenomenal,” said Sally Whitewoods.
“Every year we attract more and more people from a cross section of countries and we’re stoked to be able to grow the event’s profile and reach even further,” she said.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Tourism New Zealand, the magazine sponsors and all the other businesses that have helped make the competitions happen.”
“We’re looking forward to generating some interest and raising the profile of Queenstown across the globe.”
Since its inception three years ago, Gay Ski Week QT has gained momentum and is firmly established as a must-attend event on the GLBT calendar with locals and visitors alike joining in the festivities.
Tickets are now on sale and the usual events are back this year including the always fabulous MoreFM Opening Party, Bingay, with new sponsor Crabbie’s, SKYCITY Queenstown’s Karaoke with Miss Ribena from Auckland’s Family Bar, and the fabulous on-slope action at Cardrona.
The Girls @ No.5 event is a sophisticated evening at No.5 Church Lane with an amazing Thai fusion dinner, a free drink on arrival and musical entertainment by Queenstown-based contemporary folk singer-songwriter Tori Reed.
Glitz and glamour return once again at the Gibbston Valley ‘Life is a Cabaret’ evening. Enjoy a complimentary drink on arrival at the bottom of the Skyline Gondola before being whisked 450m above Queenstown for a night of great food and entertainment by LA Social Club.
Another new addition is FAMILY Bar’s ‘B’ Word Tonight’ which takes place on the rooftop terrace at The Rydges Hotel on the lakefront for a night of ‘B’s – that’s Boys, Bears, Beer, Boobs, BBQ, Bums…..the list goes on.
DJ Haylenise (Melbourne) will be playing and there will be a BBQ dinner included as well as a heated pool and spa. If you want to make a splash, don’t forget your togs and towel.
Other highlights include Anika Moa playing at Sasso on Tuesday September 2 and the final night theme party with new sponsor Belvedere Vodka.
Think strong man, lion and ring master for the ‘Oh, what a circus’ final night shindig and dance the night away with tunes from DJ Kate Monroe (Sydney) and Adam Love (Sydney).
Sally and Mandy are once again raising funds for New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) donating six per cent of the accommodation revenue from bookings at Novotel Queenstown to the charity.
“We raised $432.79 last year for the New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) which is great and this year we’d like to generate more,” said Sally Whitewoods.
