He’s the only contestant who managed to topple the master in Iron Chef Australia, and now Herb Faust is looking to share his tricks of the trade with WAtoday readers.
An expert in Thai cuisine, Faust credits “keeping calm under pressure” for his 2010 victory over Italian specialist Guy Grossi.
“I also had two talented chefs with me who I could trust and believe in,” he said.
“We worked really well together and produced some great dishes that were a balance of fun and sophistication, and always showcased the main ingredient of lamb.”
Faust is running a series of master classes at Swanbourne cafe The Naked Fig. The second of these, ‘At Home With Herb’, will be held August 6.
“I hope that someone who might feel nervous in the kitchen gains a little confidence, or that a seasoned cook learns a new skill or technique for preparing food,” he said.
“Most of all I hope that everyone has a great time cooking and eating – I really love how food brings people from all walks of life together!”
