There are very few other artists out there quite like Ben Frost. Influenced by noise, dark ambient, industrial, black metal and classical minimalism, it is incredible to think that Melbourne born Frost is yet to play in his home town. That is all set to change as Novel is very proud to announce that one of the world’s most unique experimental producer’s is finally set to make his debut Melbourne performance off the back of his latest album, Aurora.
The darkest and arguably the most powerful recording of his career, Aurora has been given widespread praise from Resident Advisor to Pitchfork to Rolling Stone. Not one to shy away from the more minimalist, instrumental and experimental corners of electronic music, it should be no surprise to learn that Frost studied under the brilliant mind of legendary producer Brian Eno; chosen by Eno himself in 2010. Four years later Iceland-based Frost has expanded his musical realm, composing music for films including Sleeping Beauty, In Her Skin and The Deep while continuing to push the boundaries of electronic music.
His live sets are charged with throbbing tribal percussions, sweeping waves of ambient and drone – an aurally explosive journey through the psyche of an incredible artist. Expect to be enveloped by a wave of sound that will transport you into the darkest realms of electronica imaginable.
