Having seduced audiences on Broadway, David Ives’ hilarious, sexy and provocative smash hit Venus in Fur makes its Sydney debut. Darlinghurst Theatre Company presents the highly anticipated Sydney premiere on 2 June at Eternity Playhouse.
Thomas is a director struggling to cast the female lead in his new play based on the classic sadomasochistic novel Venus in Furs. As Thomas is about to leave the audition room, in bursts a fiery actress who displays an uncanny command of the material. As the audition progresses, the line between play and reality blurs, and director and auditionee enter into an increasingly high-stakes game of submission and domination. Part comedy, part thriller, Venus in Fur is a gripping exploration of sexual control and desire.
