Gain a comprehensive understanding of how Australia has been shaped by photography. Tracing its evolution from the 1840s to today, this exhibition features many iconic Australian images and proposes a new way of thinking about the connections between photography, place and identity.
Sourced from more than 35 private and public collections across Australia, New Zealand and England, the exhibition features over 650 works by renowned artists, as well as images by unknown photographers and everyday material such as family albums and postcards.

Information on prizes and how to enter form part of these terms and conditions. Entries not completed in accordance with these terms are ineligible. Participation in this competition constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
The competition is open to residents of Queensland who are current RACQ members at the time the competition is drawn.
Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter, related entities and agents of the Promoter are ineligible to enter.
The competition commences 9am, Thursday 25 June 2015 and closes 5pm, Sunday 12 July 2015. The competition will be drawn at 3pm, Friday 17 July 2015 at RACQ Head Office, Tourism & Entertainment Department, 2649 Logan Road, Eight Mile Plains 4113. Times quoted are local time.
There will be ten (10) winners in this competition that will be chosen at random from all eligible entries received. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Entry is by the member filling in their first name, last name, email address, RACQ membership card number and postal address into the online entry form.
Only one entry per entrant is permitted and only one prize will be awarded to each winner.
The winners will each receive one double-pass, valid for entry to The Photograph and Australia exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery, Stanley Place, South Bank, Queensland until Sunday 11 October 2015.
The double-passes are each valued at $24 each. The total value of the ten (10) double-pass ticket prizes is $240. Prize components may alter at the discretion of the Promoter. Any change in the value of the prizes between the publishing date and the date that the prizes are claimed is not the responsibility of the Promoter.
The double-pass tickets can be redeemed for one entry to The Photograph and Australia exhibition only, until Sunday 11 October 2015, and are not valid for any other ticketed event. The double-pass prize ticket does not include entrance to any other paid performances, lectures, talks or booked events.
The prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
Travel, insurance, spending money and all other ancillary costs are the responsibility of each winner.
The prizes are subject to booking availability.
Winners will be notified by email using the email addresses the winners provide at the time they enter the competition. Prizes will be posted to the winners as appropriate to the addresses they provide when they enter the competition.
If a competition winner is unable to be contacted within two (2) weeks of the draw a redraw will occur. In the event that a redraw is required it will be held at 10am, Friday 31 July 2015 at RACQ Head Office, Tourism & Entertainment Department, 2649 Logan Road, Eight Mile Plains 4113 and the redraw winners will be notified by email using the email addresses they provide when they enter the competition. Times quoted are in local time.
All entries become the property of the Promoter. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries.
The information that entrants provide will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting the competition, and to periodically keep entrants informed about the goods and services provided by the Promoter, related entities and its service providers. By entering this competition entrants consent to the use of their contact details for the purposes described in this clause. The Promoter may use or disclose entrant’s personal information to related entities or other appropriate third parties in accordance with its privacy policy.
If for any reason this competition is not capable of being conducted by the Promoter as intended, whether because of computer virus, mobile phone failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter which in the Promoter’s opinion affects the administration of the competition, security, fairness or integrity, the Promoter may in its sole discretion, cancel, modify or suspend the competition, subject to the approval of the Office of Gaming and Racing Regulation in Queensland as may be required.
The Promoter will not be liable for any loss or damage or for any personal injury sustained as a result of taking the prize or entering into this competition. The Promoter makes no representations or warranties as to the quality, suitability or merchantability or any goods or services offered as prizes. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for any loss suffered to person or property by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by the Promoter or its employees or agents, in connection with the arrangement for the supply, or the supply, of goods and services by any person to the prize winners, and where applicable, to any persons accompanying the prize winners.
