WAAPA graduates Brendan Hanson and Emma Pettemerides are to be Curly and Laurie in MUSAE – The Music Theatre Company’s production of Oklahoma! in September this year. Supported by Alinta Carroll, Ian Cross, Lauchlan Bain, Igor Sas and newcomer Katie Toner, and directed by Adam Mitchell this promises to be an event not to be missed and we have ten double passes to give away!
Oklahoma! Is a classic love story from the golden age of American musicals, with toe tapping tunes and a love triangle between the charming cowboy, Curly, the brooding and dangerous farmhand, Jud, and the wholesome and feisty girl next door, Laurey. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s first collaboration set the standards for music theatre still being followed today, featuring high-spirited rivalry between farmers and cowmen in this Western Indian Territory in the early 1900’s and set on a colourful background with classic melodies “Oh what a beautiful morning,” “Surrey with the fringe on top,” “Kansas City,” “The farmer and the cowman”, “I can’t say no!”.
The production is the first for the newly formed not-for-profit incorporated MUSAE - The Music Theatre Company of WA and over 60 people are involved in the production including the on-stage cast, behind the scenes crew and a chorus and orchestra.

5.The promoter may appoint judges and the judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
6.Participation is open to residents of Western Australia who fulfil the participation requirements.
7.To enter participants must go to communitynews.com.au, follow the links to enter the competition and complete all the required details by 10am 10 August, 2015.
8.Participants may only enter once. Additional entries will be deemed invalid.
9.The prizes consist of two A reserve tickets to see Oklahoma! at the performance of the winners’ choice of Oklahoma! (subject to seat availability) and a show program. Prizes are not redeemable for cash or valid for any other times or venues. Prize winners must book their prize in advance by calling supplied box office contact on winners letter.
10.The winners of the competition will be selected by random choice on 10 August 2015 at Community Newspaper Group, Perth.
11.Directors and employees of Community Newspaper Group Ltd including their immediate families, its agencies and companies associated with the competition are ineligible to enter.
