He leaves the choice to the performers, in a visceral musical drama played out in raw human emotion. Simone Young continues her profound Mahler odyssey in Brisbane while Lisa Gasteen returns with a song cycle perfectly suited to her incomparable dramatic soprano, Mahler’s Rückert Lieder.
