See André Rieu on the big screen!
Following record-breaking worldwide cinema screenings of a magnificent concert by the most popular classical music artist, André Rieu's 2015 Maastricht Concert in Cinemas will take a bow with a special Encore Screening at Sydney’s iconic State Theatre on Sunday, September 6 at 1 pm.
Back by popular demand, this unforgettable concert experience will screen at the majestic State Theatre, the perfect showcase to appreciate ‘The King of Waltz’ and his famous 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra as they dramatically transform the medieval square in Rieu’s hometown of Maastricht in the Netherlands into a romantic open-air concert venue with dazzling light shows, spectacular fireworks and sublime music.

The concert features many notable guest artists and soloists, including 30 year-old Australian soprano Mirusia Louwerse, whom André calls the “Angel of Australia” and Tasmanian-born tenor Gary Bennett, who has been performing with André for ten years.

Some of the many highlights of André Rieu’s 2015 Maastricht Concert in Cinemas include Mirusia’s deeply emotional rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again’; the stirring ‘This Land is Mine’ from Exodus; world-renowned Romanian panpipe master Gheorghe Zamfir leading an incredible performance of The Lonely Shepherd; Andre’s signature waltz ‘The Blue Danube’ and many more. André Rieu’s 2015 Maastricht Concert in Cinemas runs for 3 hours, including a 15-minute intermission.

Buy tickets: $22.87 (plus booking fee) available through Ticketmaster.

About the State Theatre: Opened in 1929, Sydney's iconic State Theatre was lavishly designed by Australian architect Henry Eli White, whose eclectic fusion of Gothic, Italian and Art deco elements was inspired by the work of American John Eberson. Amongst its many significant treasures are artworks by William Dobell and Charles Wheeler, a priceless Wurlitzer organ and the second largest chandelier in the world. The National Trust of Australia has classified The State Theatre as "a building of great historical significance and high architectural quality, the preservation of which is regarded as essential to our heritage."

You can book a behind the scenes tour of this historical building or to take a free virtual tour.
