But they will explain a lot about how we see the world.
The beautifully designed compendium was put together by a panel of international cartographers and map dealers, who selected each one of its 300 maps for the variety of subjects they covered. A cursory glance reveals maps on everything from outer space to the London Underground train system, the destruction of New Orleans and Mount Vesuvius, to the pathways that make up our brains and social media networks.
It’s a truly comprehensive look at the world and how humans have tried to make sense of it,
and thanks to Phaidon we have three copies to give away. To enter, email your name and address to giveaways@smithjournal.com.au .
