The Road Ahead and Collette are giving one lucky reader the chance to win a trip for two to the US, starting with the bright lights of New York City.

Stay two nights in the heart of Times Square, the perfect vantage point from which to visit iconic landmarks such as the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the World Trade Centre, take in a show on Broadway, or stroll around Central Park.

This is just the start of Collette’s Heritage of America tour. From New York, the tour travels to Philadelphia, where the Founding Fathers of the nation both signed the Declaration of Independence and drafted the Constitution. It’s also home to the revered Liberty Bell.

The next few days of the tour take in the countryside and smaller towns such as Lancaster, where you’ll spend two nights enjoying delicacies produced by the local Amish community and learn about their unique customs.

The tour moves on to Gettysburg, the site of the largest battle of the Civil War and where Abraham Lincoln delivered the famous Gettysburg Address. An overnight stay in Shenandoah National Park is an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the area that has inspired numerous songs.

Next stop is Charlottesville, Virginia, and the beautiful home and gardens of Thomas Jefferson, the third US president and author of the Declaration of Independence. Then it’s on to Williamsburg, regarded as one of the largest living history museums in the world.

The last stage of the journey is spent in Washington DC, where you can visit Mount Vernon and the home of George Washington, the first president of the United States. Other highlights include the Smithsonian museums and monuments along the National Mall, the White House and Capitol, the Washington and Lincoln monuments, and the new World War II memorial.

This incredible prize includes airport and hotel transfers, airfares, accommodation (including four nights in New York City and three nights in Washington DC), 18 meals, and entries and tours as per the itinerary. Total value is $13,990.
