To commemorate the Anzac tradition, National Geographic and Ancestry are giving you the chance to win one of fifty annual subscriptions to Ancestry.com.au.

Before they were our Anzac heroes they were family, maybe even yours. Find your Anzac hero at ancestry.com.au, featuring the world’s largest online collection of military records including millions of WW1 Anzac records.

To enter, tell us in 25 words or less what the legacy of the first Anzacs means to you.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY TO THE “WIN SUBCRIPTIONS TO ANCESTRY” COMPETITION

3.   All entrants in this competition must be 18 years or older at the time of entry.

4.   Entry is open to residents of Australia and New Zealand.

5.   Entry is not open to:

a)   employees of the Promoter, AUSTAR, FOXTEL, FETCH TV, Optus TV featuring FOXTEL, FOXTEL from Telstra, Telstra Clear Cable TV, Neighbourhood Cable and TransACT, or an employee of these companies’ related corporations or agencies or any other company associated with the Promoter and/or the Competition; or

b)   a spouse, de facto spouse, parent, child or sibling (whether natural or by adoption) of such an employee.

c)   employees of Ancestry Australia Pty Ltd (‘Ancestry’) or employees of related corporations or agencies or any other entity associated with Ancestry and/or the Competition; or a spouse, de facto spouse, parent, child or sibling (whether natural or by adoption) of such an employee.

6.   The Competition commences on Sunday April 24, 2016 at 00:01 (AEDT) and concludes on Saturday May 14, 2016 at 23:59 (AEDT).

7.   Entrants are required to (i) provide the following details: contact name, email address, contact telephone, and (ii) answer the 25 words or less question. One complete and valid online registration will provide the entrant one entry in the Competition.

8.   Each entrant can enter as many times as they wish, but each entry must include a different answer to the 25 words or less question. Incomplete and incomprehensible entries will be deemed invalid.

9.   The Promoter reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity. Proof of identification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.

10.   The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry which, in the opinion of Promoter, includes objectionable content, profanity, potentially insulting, inflammatory or defamatory statements, disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms & Conditions of Entry or who has, in the opinion of Promoter, engaged in conduct in entering the Competition which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the Competition and/or Promoter. This includes entries conducted by automated online software applications designed to create more than one entry for a single entrant by falsifying and or manipulating entrants’ details such as creating false e-mail addresses. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify a winner if Promoter becomes aware that the winner and/or the winner’s entry is of a type described in this clause.

11.   Entries must be received by 23:59 (AEDT) on Saturday May 14, 2016.  The time of entry will in each case be the time the entry is received by the Promoter and not at the time of submission. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries due to technical disruptions, network congestion or for any other reason.

12.   The Competition Prize is one (1) of fifty (50) twelve month subscriptions to Ancestry.com.au (UK Heritage Plus).

13.   The value of each of the Competition Prize is approximately AUD$250.

14.   The Competition Prize is valid to be taken between 1 June 2016 and 30 August 2016 for the twelve (12) Ancestry subscription.

15.   The prizes are not transferable, available for sale or redeemable for cash. The major prize must be redeemed within the validity period or the major prize will be forfeited.

16.   INTENTIONALLY DELETED

17.   In the event that for any reason whatsoever a winner does not take the Competition Prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter then the Competition Prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the Competition Prize.

18.   Prize values are based upon the recommended retail prices at the time of printing (inclusive of GST). The Promoter accepts no responsibility for change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date.

19.   Independent financial advice should be sought as tax implications may arise as a result of accepting a prize.

20.   INTENTIONALLY DELETED

A total of fifty (50) valid entrants will be chosen for the Competition Prize, based on their answer. The judging will take place between May 16 2016 and May 28, 2016 at 17:00 (AEDT).

22.   This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winner.  Each entry will be individually judged based on the creative merit of the answer provided to the 25 words or less question.

23.   The winners will be notified by email.

24.   Should an entrant’s contact details change during the promotional period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in an entry should be directed to Promoter.

25.   The Promoter’s decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the Competition result.
