We’re looking for Australia’s best kept travel secrets. Share the fabulous places that you think everybody else should know about too and you could win up to 600,000 Qantas Points.

It could be an attraction in your town or region or an awesome experience that you’ve had on holiday around the country.

Click on the image below for details on how to enter and, in 100 words or less, tell us a secret from one of the following five categories:

Our judging panel will select the top secrets by state for each category and then we'll throw it over to you for public voting on September 25, 2016.

Terms and Conditions:

1. Information on how to enter forms part of the terms and conditions of entry. Entry into this competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. Headings in this document are included for ease of reference, and do not affect interpretation in any way.

2. The Promoter is Qantas Airways Limited (ABN 16 009 661 901) of 10 Bourke Road, Mascot, NSW 2020 (02 9691 3634).

Duration

3. All references to time in this document are a reference to the local time in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on the date stated. The promotion commences on Sunday 31July 2016 at 12:01am and closes at 11.59pm on Sunday 9 October 2016.

Eligibility to enter

4. Entry is open only to Australian residents 18 years of age or over, excluding directors, management, employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and News Limited d and its related bodies corporate and registered travel companions of employees of the Promoter and News Limited and its related bodies corporate (Eligible Entrants).

Entry into the promotion

5. To enter, Eligible Entrants must during the Promotion Period:

and in 100 words or less share a tip about a lesser-known travel experience in one of the following five categories:

i) The most mouth-watering food experience in Australia
ii) The perfect swimming spot in Australia
iii) The best place in Australia to see animals in their natural habitat
iv) The most romantic place in Australia
v) The top adrenalin pumping experience in Australia

6) The Promoter is not responsible for any lost, late or misdirected entries.

7) Eligible Entrants are permitted one entry per category (multiple entries for each category are not permitted).

Cool The time of entry will be deemed to be the time the entry is received by the Promoter

9) The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and Eligible Entrants (including an entrant's identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

10) Entries will be judged on their originality and creativity.

Judging of entries

11) There will be 41 prize winners in total consisting of:

A prize winner for each of the seven State and Territories listed below (ACT and NSW entries will be judged together) for each category outlined in clause 5

Victoria
New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory will be judged together
South Australia
Queensland
Northern Territory
Western Australia
Tasmania


The five national prize winners for each category will be selected from the winners of the State and Territory category prize winners.

The overall prize winner will be selected from the State and Territory category winners.

State and Territory category winners (ACT entries will be included and judged together with the NSW entries)

12) State and Territory entries for each category will be judged by the Judging Panel

13) State and Territory category judging will take place at 1.00pm on Monday 12 September at News Limited 2 Holt street, Surry Hills, NSW, 2010 (02 9288 2638). Judging will be conducted by Qantas Airways Ltd, News Limited and Medium Rare Content Agency (Judging Panel).

14) The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Chance plays no part in determining the winners.

Public Voting

15) The public will vote to decide the national category winners from the State and Territory category winners selected by the Judging Panel with the public choosing the national category winners based on originality and creativity.

16) At the same time the public will also vote to decide the overall winner of all the categories and all of the States and Territory categories winners from those selected by the judging panel with the public choosing the overall winner based on originality and creativity.

17) Public voting opens 12:01am am Sunday 25th September 2016 and closes on Sunday 9th October 11.59pm, 2016. The public will vote on the State and Territory winners in all categories (with NSW and ACT being combined together). To vote, the public can visit http://travelinsider.qantas.com.au/bestkeptsecrets/vote. The Public will select the most creative and original entries from the State and Territory category winners selected by the Judging Panel.

18) The public decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Chance plays no part in determining the winners. All winners will be judged on the originality and creativity of their entry.

The prize

19) There will be 41 prizes.

20) The five national category winners and overall winner will each receive a prize of 250,000 Qantas Points.

21) The thirty five State and Territory category winners will each receive a prize of 100,000 Qantas Points.

22) Qantas Points may take up to eight weeks to be credited to the winner’s account from the date of judging

23) If the winners are not already members of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, membership to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, normally at $89.50, will be included in their Prize. To accept this part of the Prize, the winners must not already be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, and must complete the standard join process including agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program (available at qantas.com/terms).

24) The maximum notional value of each 100,000 Qantas Points Prize is AU$729 based on a sample of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Awards and Rewards that could be obtained by redeeming through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program (as fully defined in the terms and conditions of the program available at qantas.com/terms). For example 100,000 Qantas Points could be redeemed for a one way Economy Points Plus Pay- Flight Flex fare from Sydney to Nadi, Fiji including applicable taxes, fees and carrier charges as at 5 July 2016. The dollar fare for an equivalent commercial flight totals AU$729 including taxes fees and carrier charges. The maximum notional value of each 250,000 Qantas Points Prize is AU$2,159 based on a sample of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Awards and Rewards that could be obtained by redeeming through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program (as fully defined in the terms and conditions of the program available at qantas.com/terms). For example 246,200 Qantas Points could be redeemed for a one way Economy Points Plus Pay- Flight Flex fare Points Plus Pay- Flight from Sydney to London Heathrow, UK including applicable taxes, fees and carrier charges as at 5 July 2016. The dollar fare for an equivalent commercial flight totals AU$2,159 including taxes fees and carrier charges.   The total maximum notional prize pool is AU $41,601.50.

25) Points Plus Pay- Flights are available on any flight with a QF or JQ flight number. As long as there is a seat available for sale, you can book a Points Plus Pay- Flight. The Qantas Points required for a Points Plus Pay- Flights includes taxes, fees and carrier charges (except any local airport fees or charges collected at the time of check-in) are subject to change and are quoted at the time of booking. See qantas.com for more information and full Terms and Conditions.

26) The estimate of the maximum notional value of each points prize is provided for information purposes only. The maximum notional value of each points prize will vary depending on whether and how it is redeemed by a winner through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. The Promoter accept no responsibility for any variation in the maximum notional value of each points prize.

27) Each Prize is awarded and must be redeemed, in accordance with and subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program (Qantas.com/terms), the Qantas Store Terms of Use (Qantas.com/store), voucher terms and conditions (including expiry rules) if relevant, and any other terms and conditions disclosed at the time of redemption

28) The redemption of each Prize is subject to the availability of Awards and Rewards that may be obtained through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.

29) In the event that a Prize is redeemed for Reward travel, the winners should be aware that the number of Reward flight seats available is limited and availability depends on the flight, date, season and destination and some flights may not have any Reward seats available. The winners will be responsible for all applicable taxes, fees and carrier charges of Reward travel or accommodation booked by redeeming their prize. Taxes, fees and carrier charges vary depending on departure points, routes, exchange rates and dates of travel, are subject to change without notice and are quoted at the time of booking. Reward flights must be booked at least 24 hours before scheduled departure (and other advance booking requirements may apply). Reward travel is subject to the fare rules and the Conditions of Carriage of the relevant carrier. Compliance with immigration, health or other government requirements is the responsibility of the winner.

30) Each prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if a winner is unable to use the prize as stated. Prizes are not exchangeable or redeemable for cash or other goods or services. A prize cannot be transferred to any other person, unless agreed to by the PromoterIt is a condition of accepting a prize that the winner accepts the conditions of use of that prize.

31) If the prize (or part of the prize) is unavailable, the Promoter in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.

Notification of the winners

32) The State Winners will be notified via email on 14 September, 2016 and National and Overall Winners will be notified via email on 11 October, 2016 and their names will be published in the Qantas magazine, Qantas magazine app, Escape and online, http://travelinsider.qantas.com.au/ and the website http://www.escape.com.au/ and on Qantas magazine’ Instagram page. 25 September 2016 State winners will be published in Escape, Qantas magazine app and http://travelinsider.qantas.com.au/ and http://www.escape.com.au/. 23 September 2016 National Winners will be published Escape, Qantas magazine app and http://travelinsider.qantas.com.au/ and http://www.escape.com.au/.1ST, December 2016 Qantas magazine publishes National and overall winner.

Judging backup entries

33) In the event that an entrant is unable to satisfy the promotion terms and conditions or forfeits or does not claim a prize before 30th November 2016, the prize will be forfeited.

Limitation of liability and variation of terms

34) If any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these terms and conditions, the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations. The Promoter reserves the right (subject to any applicable law) to cancel, terminate or modify or suspend this promotion.

35) The Promoter and News Limited,their related bodies corporate and their respective officers, employees, contractors and agents (Promotion Parties) will not be liable for any losses, damages, expenses, costs or personal injuries arising out of this promotion, the promotion of this promotion or the use of any prize, including but not limited to any breach of these terms and conditions, contract or tort (including negligence) and any other common law, equitable or statutory remedy (Damages) whatsoever, including but not limited to direct, indirect and consequential Damages, including Damages that cannot reasonably be considered to arise naturally and in the ordinary course of things, even if those Damages were in the contemplation of the Promotion Parties.

36) The exclusion of liability in clause 35 does not apply to limit or exclude liability:

a) for personal injury or death suffered or sustained in connection with the supply of goods or services which are supplied by the Promoter in the ordinary course of business. To remove doubt: third party goods or services, which other than in connection with this promotion, are in the normal course of business supplied by a third party unrelated to the Promotion Parties, are not supplied by the Promoter in the ordinary course of business;

b) to the extent it is not permissible at law to limit or exclude liability in the manner contemplated in that clause (in which case that liability is limited to the maximum extent allowable by law).

Entry details and privacy

37) Entry details remain the property of the Promoter and News Limited. The name and photograph of the winner may be used for promotional purposes by the Promoter and News Limited, unless the winner otherwise notifies the Promoter and News Limited at the time of accepting the prize. Entrants consent to the Promoter and News Limited using personal information provided in connection with this promotion for the purposes of facilitating the conduct of the promotion and awarding any prizes (including to third parties involved in the promotion and any applicable statutory authorities) and to conduct marketing activities. Without limiting the foregoing, entrants’ personal information provided in connection with this promotion will be handled in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Statement, visit qantas.com/privacy.

38) Nationwide News Pty Ltd ("we") collects information about you, including for example your name and contact details which you provide when registering or using our services as well as information from data houses, social media services, our affiliates and other entities you deal or interact with for example by using their services.  We collect and use that information to provide you with our goods and services, to promote and improve our goods and services, to provide you with targeted advertising based on your online activities, for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy and for any other purposes that we describe at the time of collection.  We may disclose your information to our related companies, including those located outside Australia.  Any of us may contact you for those purposes (including by email and SMS) at any time.  We may also disclose your information to our service and content providers, including those located outside Australia.  If you do not provide us with requested information we may not be able to provide you with the goods and services you require.  We may disclose your personal information to authorities if you are a prize winner or otherwise as required by law. 39) The Promoter and News Limited acknowledge that the entrant may own intellectual property rights (including copyright) in any material created or otherwise submitted to the Promoter and News Limited in connection with the entrant’s entry or participation in any aspect of the prize (Works). The entrant hereby grants the Promoter and Nationwide News Pty Ltd a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide licence to use the Works (including modifying, adapting or publishing the Works, whether in original or modified form, in whole or in part or not at all).  The entrant acknowledges and agrees that neither the entrant nor any third party shall be entitled to any fee, royalty or other consideration in respect of such licence.  If the entrant holds, now, or at any time in the future, any so called “droit moral” or moral rights in connection with the Works, the entrant unconditionally and irrevocably consents, for the benefit of the Promoter and News Limited and all of its assignees, licensees and sublicensees to material alterations to the Works (including, without limitation, any copying, editing, adding to, taking from, adapting and/or translating the Works, in any manner or context) for any purpose, notwithstanding that such conduct may amount to derogatory treatment of the Works for the purposes of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).

Tax Implications

40) The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from accepting a prize. Independent financial advice should be sought.
