This vintage factory cart is a truly unique conversation piece from Watershed Union. Originally a working cart sourced from factory salvage in the United States, its origins are reflected in the final restoration, which still carries the imperfections, scars and markings from a lifetime of working on the factory floor.
This particular cart has followed a unique story, much like the store from where it was restored. Watershed Union – a name to signify both change and coming together – started when Bruce swapped a high-flying corporate career to open what is now his homewares and lifestyle boutique in Melbourne’s leafy suburb of Hawthorn.
Bruce has regularly travelled through the rust belt of the United States scouring salvage and liquidation sites for old industrial furniture to be lovingly refurbished. This particular working factory cart was salvaged from the Crescent Planing Mill in St. Louis that recently closed its doors after 122 years in business.
Nowadays, Bruce stocks Watershed Union with unique, contemporary soft furnishings and most notably, his prized Industrial furniture. Think old oak factory carts turned coffee tables that are styled in such a way that you feel as if you've stepped into a loft apartment in Brooklyn.
