See internationally renowned British violinist Nigel Kennedy
Internationally renowned classical, jazz and rock violinist Nigel Kennedy will perform Vivaldi: The New Four Seasons + Dedications at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC) Concert Hall on February 2, 2017, as part of a national tour.
The Road Ahead and QPAC are giving four RACQ members the chance to win double passes to this one-off concert.
When Nigel Kennedy released his breakthrough recording of Vivaldi’s The New Four Seasons 26 years ago, it sold more than three million copies and set a record for classical sales that is yet to be eclipsed.
Now the British violin virtuoso has the Italian composer in his sights again – presenting an exciting new acoustic version of the iconic masterpiece.
With The New Four Seasons, Kennedy will take audiences on a journey through the seasons with his signature extraordinary flair, delivering new interpretations of the music, while staying true to the essence of Vivaldi’s original.
Nigel Kennedy has been acknowledged as one of the world’s leading violinists for more than 25 years. His virtuoso technique, unique talent and mass appeal have brought fresh perspectives to the classical and contemporary genres.
Kennedy’s own compositions will comprise one half of the February 2 concert, which is his only performance in Queensland as part of this tour. Dedications pays tribute to four of his musical heroes: the late Polish jazz guitarist Jaroslaw Smietana; the late French jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli; the late American violinist Isaac Stern; and American bluegrass, jazz and country violinist Mark O’Connor.
He will be accompanied by the 14-strong ensemble, Orchestra of Life.
The Road Ahead and QPAC have four double A Reserve tickets to Vivaldi: The New Four Seasons + Dedications to give away. Each ticket is worth $159, with the total prize value $1272.
