WIN! A 5-day Mekong River cruise for two worth over $3,300

Showcasing the best of rural Cambodia, Heritage Line’s Serenity Cruise follows the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh (or vice versa). The journey takes guests through green landscapes and to ancient temples, in absolute comfort aboard either The Jahan or Jayavarman.

The itinerary takes in Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Kampong Tralach, Wat Hanchey and Phnom Penh. From Siem Reap, the ship crosses the Tonle Sap (Great Lake), home to an incredible number of fish and variety of birds, and meanders along the Tonle Sap River through the spectacular marshlands of Kampong Chhnang province.

Every day begins with a tai chi lesson on the sun deck at sunrise. Days are spent cruising past wetlands, floating houses and fish farms as well as land excursions to see Khmer-styled pottery, join an ox-cart rally and visit ancient temples, including Wat Hanchey. The eighth-century temple sits on a hill overlooking the river, offering one of the most breathtaking views in Cambodia.

In Phnom Penh, sightseeing includes the Killing Fields and S21 Genocide Museum – stark reminders of the genocide of the Khmer Rouge, as well as the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and the National Museum.
