$100,000 Prize

Australian
landscape prize
2017 THEME: History and Place
for the best portrayal of the Australian landscape which acknowledges the past

About
Art is woven into the history of Hadley’s Orient Hotel. The idea of the Hadley’s Art Prize, Hobart was born on the ninetieth anniversary of John Eldershaw’s exhibition of landscape paintings at the hotel.

The Hadley’s Art Prize, Hobart seeks to contribute to the Tasmanian and Australian art scene, generating interest in cultural tourism and promoting the work of contemporary Australian landscape artists. Finalists will also have the opportunity to sell their work, establish new industry contacts and engage with the Tasmanian community.

The 2017 theme invites artists connecting with place through the past, such as through family histories, cultural traditions, or tracing events, memories and stories in the land.

To be held annually, the Hadley’s Art Prize, Hobart celebrates painting, printmaking and drawing by Australian artists over the age of eighteen.

Prizes
$100,000 Acquisitive Prize

$2,250 x 4 Highly Commended Prize, awarded to four entries (non- acquisitive)

$5,000 People’s Choice Award (non- acquisitive)

The winning artwork will be acquired by Hadley’s Orient Hotel for their permanent collection of artwork at no additional cost. Prizes are GST inclusive. The People’s Choice Award will be determined through a public vote.
