It's Back! The second "Muswellbrook's Got Idol Talent", a free competition for anyone of any age group to enter and showcase your singing talent with the opportunity to win the grand final prize of $1000.00. It will be run over 10 weeks with the winner of each week being judged by our host and acclamation. You just need to turn up on the night before 7pm to enter. The more family and friends you bring along to cheer, the better your chance of winning. Finals will be judged by a proper panel of judges though. If you are under 18yrs old, you must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Winners from each week will compete in the semi’s and will have an opportunity for an interview on air, plus entry on the website for the people’s choice award. All equipment will be supplied at the venue including karaoke screen and backing tracks if required. You just need to turn up on the night with your best singing voice, family and friends. It is held every Saturday night from 7pm at Muswellbrook's Workers Club starting this Saturday (3rd June). Semi finals will be held Saturday the 12th and 19th August. Muswellbrook’s Got Idol Talent (MGIT)
CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS AND CONSENT FORM
1. This contest is open to all persons of all ages. Staff or directors of the
Muswellbrook & District Workers Club and their families are permitted to
participate but are not eligible to claim any prizes. None of the judge/s or
compere/s immediate family may participate. Contestants under the age of 18
years old may only participate with the consent of their parent or guardian who
must provide evidence of such consent on the application form.
2. Contestants must be amateur singers or entertainers or otherwise be persons
who may be involved within the entertainment industry as singers or
entertainers on a part‐time basis, and do not belong to any professional
organization(s) connected with the entertainment industry. None of the paid
performers of the Muswellbrook & District Workers Club may participate.
3. Entries for the contest will be available on the night of each heat. Entries are
subject to time availability and remaining openings. Anyone registering after
each heat commences may not have a chance to compete due to time slot
availability. To enter contestants must complete a Registration Form. The time
and date that the registration is processed will be determined at the sole and
absolute discretion of the Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Ltd.
4. NO ENTRY FEE
5. Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Ltd has the right at any time to require
proof of identity and/or eligibility. Failure to provide such proof within a
reasonable time could result in disqualification from the competition. All
personal details and information requested by Muswellbrook & District Workers
Club Ltd from each contestant must be truthful, accurate and in no way
misleading. Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Ltd reserves the right to
disqualify any contestant from the competition at its sole discretion, should the
contestant at any stage supply untruthful, inaccurate or misleading personal
details and/or information, or should the contestant be ineligible for the
competition pursuant to these rules.
6. By submission of an application and entering into this contest, each
contestant represents and warrants his or her compliance with these rules and
regulations. No contestant will be permitted to perform unless he or she has
acknowledged and agreed to these rules and regulations.
7. By entering, each contestant agrees that Muswellbrook & District Workers
Club Ltd and their successors and assigns the right to use their names,
likenesses, and images of all persons performing for future advertising,
promotion and publicity in any manner and in any medium now known or
hereafter devised in perpetuity. The contestant further agrees that
Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Ltd has the right to use their image (still
or video), audio and any additional information to promote Muswellbrook’s Got
Idol Talent or the Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Ltd. The contestant
agrees that the Club may use this content on radio, TV, print media and the
internet. The contestant agrees to make themselves available for print media,
online and radio interviews should they be successful as a heat winner, semi‐
final winner or finalist.
8. By participating in this contest, contestants agree to be bound by these rules
and the decisions of the compere/s and judge/s. Muswellbrook & District
Workers Club Ltd is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the
administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.
9. Heats will take place between 7.00pm and 10.00pm at the Muswellbrook &
District Workers Club Ltd on each Saturday commencing Saturday 3rd June 2017
and concluding Saturday 5th August 2017. The semi‐finals will take place
between 7.00pm and 10.00pm at the Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Ltd
on Saturday 12th August and Saturday 19th August 2017. The grand final will take
place between 7.00pm and 10.00pm at the Muswellbrook & District Workers
Club Ltd on Saturday 26th August 2017.
The first and second place getter in each heat will progress to the semi‐finals
where they will be required to perform two songs. The compere/s will have at
his or her sole discretion the right to progress one contestant per heat, who did
not place first or second in their heat, through to the semi‐finals as a wild card
entry. The performance times and dates of those contestants who progress to
the semi‐final stage will be at the sole discretion of the Muswellbrook & District
Workers Club Ltd. The top three contestants from each semi‐final will progress
to the grand final where they will be required to perform three songs.
The performance times of those contestants who progress to the grand final will
be at the sole discretion of the Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Ltd.
Unsuccessful contestants are eligible to enter future heats subject to available
time slots.
10. A contestant may only perform as a solo act or as a duo. No group
performances will be permitted.
11. Contestants MAY NOT utilize live props, back‐up singers, dancers or animals.
Non‐human props such as costumes and other accessories are permitted.
Contestants may use a backing track to accompany themselves or have someone
else accompany them with a live musical instrument or accompany themselves
with a live musical instrument. These instruments must be suitable to be
plugged directly in to our equipment and must be sound checked no later than
30 minutes prior to the 7.00pm start time of each performance. No musical
instruments requiring a microphone may be used.
12. Should a contestant wish to supply their own compatible backing track
and/or equipment they must do so on a USB stick in a suitable format or on a
music reproduction device, such as an ipod, which can be attached to the
amplification system used. The backing track must be clear of lead vocal and
singers. Only musical band instruments are acceptable along with light vocal
harmonies.
13. Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Ltd will not be held liable for any
damage to personal equipment that may include the following but is not limited
to such things as microphones, musical instruments, leads, play back devices and
backing tracks.
14. Contestants are not permitted to leave the stage or stage area during their
performance. This includes singing or performing within the audience.
15. The time limit for each contestant is 5 minutes per song. No more than one
song may be sung within the 5 minutes. No changing of backing tracks will be
allowed. Songs going over 5 minutes may be shut off.
16. Contestants may sing the same song as another contestant.
17. No changes in song choice may be made once the contestant has completed
the heat registration process. Backing tracks must be given to the sound person
15‐20 minutes prior to their performance. Key changes or pitch variations must
be organised prior to the performance and no change will be made during the
course of the performance. For the sake of the other contestants and keeping
the flow of the contest in order, please be available to perform 30 minutes prior
and up until 30 minutes after your allotted time. If you are not available you may
forfeit your turn and possibly be disqualified. Also ‐ when entering and exiting
the stage, please be prompt.
18. Songs containing vulgar or explicit sexual lyrics will not be allowed.
Contestants who during their performance, use any obscene, offensive, sexual
or otherwise inappropriate behaviour or gestures, including without limitation
those referencing or depicting violence, nudity or explicit activity, or which is not
in the spirit of the contest or do not meet Muswellbrook & District Workers Club
Ltd standards for any reason, as determined by Muswellbrook & District
Workers Club Ltd will be disqualified from the competition.
19. Contestants and their families are not allowed to have contact with any
contest judge before or during the competition. Contact includes verbal
conversations and handshakes. Please don’t hang out around the judge’s area.
20. Contestants, and/or their family or associates who exhibit offensive
behaviour during any portion of the contest may result in the disqualification of
that contestant from further competition and furthermore result in both their
and their family and associates being removed from the Club. Offensive
behaviour includes poor sportsmanship, bad manners, and lack of decorum.
21. Contestants will be scored in the semi‐finals and grand final using a 50‐point
system:
* Vocal Ability (rhythm/pitch/phrasing) 1‐30 points
* Stage Presence (movement/confidence/command) 1‐10 points
* Appearance (costume/attire) 1‐5 points
* Audience Acclamation (includes applause and audience involvement with the
performance) 1‐5 points.
22. All decisions and interpretations regarding the contest, its rules, and the
selection of the winner remain with the judges, Muswellbrook & District
Workers Club Ltd, its agents, and representatives, and are final. No
correspondence will be entered into.
23. The Grand Final winners will receive the following:

st Place $1,000.00 cash
2
nd Place $ 500.00 cash
3
rd Place $ 200.00 cash.
The semi‐final winners will receive the following:
1
st Place $ 250.00 cash
2
nd Place $100.00 cash
Heat winners $100.00 cash for 1st place only.
The total prize pool is $3,400.00 cash
24. The odds of winning will depend on the number of contestants and the
quality of their performances.
25. The heat winners will be selected by audience acclamation as determined by
the compere/s and then announced immediately following each heat. The semi‐
finals and grand final will be judged. This will be announced once the audience
acclamation has been measured and after the scores has been calculated.
