Think about it – we pass strangers in the street without a word every day, but spot a puppy 500 metres away and we rush over to make friends. Every year the heroes at the RSPCA care for and re-home 135,000 of said friends through its shelters and aid programs, helping thousands of puppies, kittens and other furry pals find new caring owners.
In order to do this, however, the RSPCA needs help to raise funds – which is where we animal (and food) lovers come in. RSPCA’s annual Cupcake Day – taking place this year on Monday August 21 – has long been one of the most delicious ways to play a part and ensuring the good work continues. On Cupcake Day, friends and co-workers gather together for morning tea, lunch, bake sales or cupcake-eating competitions to raise much-needed funds for RSPCA’s various projects.
To celebrate RSCPA’s Cupcake Day, The Weekend Edition is giving one lucky reader (who has registered to host their own cupcake party) the chance to win the ultimate morning tea on Monday August 21 for them and 19 colleagues complete with furry friends (valued at $1050)!
The winner (and their 19 colleagues) will have their one-hour morning tea catered by Jocelyn’s Provisions, complete with vanilla, salted malted and passionfruit cupcakes, sausage rolls, and a selection of pastries, plus (wait for it) … RSPCA Queensland will be bringing some cute furry friends to join you!

While you can have a Cupcake Day of your own at any time in August or September, you must remember to register your gathering with the RSPCA to make sure your donations are accepted.

The Prize is a morning tea for the winner and 19 of their colleagues catered by Jocelyn’s Provisions valued at $250 as per specified in competition page, with furry friends provided by RSPCA Queensland for one hour on Monday August 21.
There’s a total of one (1) prize and one (1) winner.
Prize valued at $1050.
Prizes are not transferrable, refundable or capable of exchange. Prizes are not for resale, or used for commercial or promotional purposes.
The Winner will be drawn Thursday August 17, 2017 by 12:00 pm. The Winners will be contacted via phone and email.

How to Enter:
To participate in the Competition, the entrant must subscribe or have subscribed to The Weekend Edition’s e-news and have registered to host a Cupcake Day event with RSPCA Queensland.
Existing subscribers only need to enter the competition on The Weekend Edition website.
Entrants must fully and correctly complete and submit the entry form on The Weekend Edition website. If you do not supply the information, your entry will be deemed invalid. You may only enter this competition once.
Entry into the competition is deemed to be acceptance of these terms and conditions.
The Prize is not negotiable or redeemable for cash.
The Prize must be redeemed by the Prize Winner.
The Prize is valid for morning tea (or afternoon tea) at a time to be specified by the winner on Monday August 21 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.Eligibility: to be eligible to enter this Competition:
(a) a person must:
be over 18 years of age
be permanent residents of the State of Queensland
fully and correctly complete and submit the entry form on The Weekend Edition website; and
(b) the entry will only be eligible if the entrant has registered their event for Cupcake Day with RSPCA Queensland.
Employees of The Weekend Edition and their immediate families, the staff of companies involved in the production, publishing and administration of this promotion are not eligible to enter. Immediate family means parents, siblings, defacto, spouse, children and grandparents.
Competition Dates: The Competition starts on Wednesday August 9. The Competition closes Thursday August 17 at 12:00 pm AEST. All entries must be received by the Promoter by 12:00 pm AEST on Thursday August 17, 2017.
Competition Draw: Winners will be randomly drawn by 5:00 pm on Monday August 7, 2017 at The Weekend Edition Office, 41 Victoria Street, Windsor 4030. The Winners of the Prize will be the first eligible entries randomly drawn. The decision will be conclusive and no correspondence will be entered into.
Winner Notification: The Weekend Edition will notify winners by email by COB the day established on the competition page The Weekend Edition reserves the right to use information regarding the Winners of the Competition for marketing purposes, including publication of their names on the websites maintained by the Promoter.
No liability of Promoter: The Promoter accepts no responsibility whatsoever for late, misplaced, lost or ineligible entries. The Promoter makes no representations or warranties as to the quality, suitability or merchantability of the Prizes to the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) or for any personal injury sustained in connection with the entry into the Competition or acceptance of the Prize. This paragraph is not intended to exclude any liability which cannot be excluded under Australian consumer protection laws. Any such liability is limited to the resupply of the Prize.
The Promoter reserves the right to alter or amend these terms and conditions and/or cancel the Competition at any time prior to the Competition opening without further recourse to the entrants.
Important – Privacy: The information that entrants provide will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting the Competition and of periodically providing entrants with marketing information about the Promoter’s products and services. By entering this Competition entrants consent to the use of their contact details for the purposes described in this clause.
Force Majeure: If for any reason this Competition is not capable of running as planned (including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter), which corrupts or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition. The Promoter reserves the right it its sole discretion to disqualify all entries from any individual who tampers with, or benefits from tampering with the entry process which as a result corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition.
In the case of intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result or prevents or hinders its determination including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes; the Promoter may in its absolution discretion cancel the Competition and recommence it from the start with the same conditions.
