There’s no denying that Tim Rogers, frontman of You Am I, has a brilliant way with words. The Australian rock legend has crooned about everything from heavy hearts to arse kickin’ ladies, making ears xxx up with empathy all over the globe. Tim is headed for Brisbane next month as Melbourne Theatre Company’s (MTC) feel-good musical love story What Rhymes with Cars and Girls makes its way to Brisbane Powerhouse for a strictly limited season from October 25.
Inspired by Tim’s debut solo album of the same name, this musical romance by award-winning playwright Aidan Fennessy expertly weaves Tim’s lyrical themes into a quirky story about two lovers from different sides of the tracks, brought together by serendipity and a pizza delivery gone awry. Starring Johnny Carr and Sophie Ross and featuring a three-piece live band led by Tim Rogers himself, What Rhymes with Cars and Girls is sure to make you swoon.
