Entry is only open to residents of Australia aged 18 years or older who enter by emailing
travelcontest@theaustralian.com.au or mailing entries to PO BOX 213, Eastern Suburbs Mail Centre, NSW 2004 during the Promotional Period (Entrants). The Promoter is Nationwide News Pty Limited (ABN 98 008 438 828) of 2 Holt Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010. The directors, management and employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter, their related bodies corporate and the Promoter’s participating outlets, newsagents, printers, suppliers, providers and agencies associated with this promotion, are ineligible to enter the promotion.
3. HOW TO ENTER
3.1 The competition commences on Saturday 18 November at 0:01am (AEDT)
and concludes on Saturday 9 December (AEDT) (“the Competition Period”).3.2 To enter the competition, readers must complete the 25 words or less competition question and send entries to
travelcontest@theaustralian.com.au or PO BOX 213, Eastern Suburbs Mail Centre, NSW 2004.
3.3 Entrants can only enter the competition once.
3.4 The time of entry will, in each case, be the time that the entry is recorded by the News Digital Media servers.
3.5 The Promoter, its agents, affiliates or representatives will not be liable for any lost, late or misdirected entries.
4. HOW TO WIN
4.1 Each entrant who has entered the competition over the Competition Period and registered all details in accordance with clauses 2 and 3 will be entered into the competition.
4.2 One (1) winner will be selected from all valid entries received. This competition is a game of skill. Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity and originality, strictly at the discretion of the judge. Judge’s discretion is final.
4.3 The prize winners will be notified by phone call or email by Thursday 14 December. The winner’s name will also be published on theaustralian.com.au/travel/giveaways.
4.4 The Promoter’s decision in relation to any aspects of the competition is final and the Promoter will not enter into any correspondence regarding the result.
4.5 It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winners may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
4.6 Entries not completed in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be considered valid and will not be included in the competition. Indecipherable or incomplete entries will be deemed invalid.
4.7 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry which, in the opinion of the Promoter, includes objectionable content, profanity, potentially insulting, inflammatory or defamatory statements, disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions of entry, or who has, in the opinion of the Promoter, engaged in conduct in entering the promotion which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the promotion and/or Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify a winner if the Promoter becomes aware that the winner and/or the winner’s entry if of a type described in this clause.

Entrants can only enter in their own name. Entrants who provide incorrect, misleading or fraudulent information are ineligible to participate in the promotion and all entries of an Entrant who is deemed by the Promoter to have provided incorrect, misleading or fraudulent information may, at the discretion of the Promoter, be deemed invalid. The Promoter reserves the right to request the Entrant produce (within the requested time) appropriate photo identification or other documentation (to the Promoter’s satisfaction, at its sole discretion) in order to confirm the Entrant’s identity, age, residential or email address, eligibility to enter and claim a prize and any information submitted by the Entrant in entering the promotion, before issuing a prize. If the documentation required by the Promoter is not received by the Promoter (or its nominated agent) or an Entrant or entry has not been verified or validated to the Promoter’s satisfaction within the time requested, then all entries of that Entrant will be ineligible and deemed invalid.

6.2 Detail of prize, any restrictions and total value of
6.3 Total maximum prize pool value is up to $8370.55 The prizes are not exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. The prizes are not transferable, unless the transfer by a winner to a third party is for no monetary value and the Promoter has agreed to the transfer in advance and in writing at its sole discretion. Without limiting the above, no prize or any component of a prize can be sold on e-Bay or any other online auction site. If a prize is transferred in accordance with these Conditions of Entry, it is subject to the transferee being bound by these terms and conditions as they apply to the winner transferor. Prizes must be taken as offered and cannot be varied. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in prize value. All prize values are based on the recommended retail price including GST, depending on point of departure.
7. All additional costs not expressly stated, but which may be incurred in acceptance and use of a prize, are the responsibility of the winner.
8. Use of a prize and any passes, tickets or vouchers issued as part of a prize are subject to prevailing prize supplier terms and conditions of use. Any passes, tickets or vouchers are only valid for use within the duration of a prize or the specified duration of the pass, ticket or voucher, whichever is shorter.
9. The Promoter may conduct such further judging at the same time and place as the original judging as are necessary in order to distribute any prizes (if any) unclaimed by that date, subject to any written directions given under applicable State and Territory legislation. In the event of any winner in an 2nd round judging, the winner will be notified by telephone and in writing (mail) and their name and locality will be published online.
10. If a prize or element of a prize becomes unavailable, for any reason beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control, then a comparable prize or prize element of equal or greater value will be awarded in lieu, subject to any written directions made under applicable State or Territory legislation.
11. The Promoter, their associated agencies and companies excludes all liability (including negligence) except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law), for any direct, indirect or consequential injury, loss and/or damage arising in any way out of the promotion. This includes, but is not limited to: (i) technical malfunctions, delays or failures, including those resulting from accessing any materials related to this promotion and any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information communicated in the course of, or in connection with, this promotion as a result of any technical malfunctions, delays or failures; (ii) theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (iii) lost or damaged entries, prize claims or prizes; and/or (iv) acceptance and/or use of any prize (including but not limited to any component of a winner’s or their travel companion’s trip). As a condition of entering this promotion, an Entrant consents to, in the event they are a winner, the Promoter using the Entrant’s name, likeness, image and/or voice (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period of time without further notification, remuneration or compensation for the purpose of promoting, publicising or marketing this promotion (including any outcome), and/or promoting any products or services manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter and/or any prize suppliers. The Entrant agrees that, in the event they are a winner, the Entrant will participate in all reasonable promoted activities in relation to the promotion as requested by the Promoter and its agents.
13. An entry and any copyright subsisting in an entry irrevocably becomes, at time of entry, the property of the Promoter. The Promoter collects personal information about an Entrant to include the Entrant in the promotion and, where appropriate, award prizes. If the personal information requested is not provided, the Entrant cannot participate in the promotion and is deemed ineligible. Each Entrant also agrees that the Promoter may, in the event the Entrant is a winner, publish or cause to be published the Entrant winner’s name and locality in any media, as required under the relevant State or Territory lottery legislation.
