GAME RULES

Game Rules

Get the edge on your competition by getting to know the official rules of Australia’s Biggest Game of Hide and Seek!

8 – 14 YEAR OLDS GROUP

The Game will consist of one round and will conclude either once all players have been found or once 20 minutes has lapsed.

The game area will be restricted to Deck 15 and will feature a number of exclusion zones. Players will confine themselves to the game area and may not enter any exclusion zone.

There will be 10 Hiders, each wearing a numbered t-shirt (provided) and a wrist band (provided).

The game organisers will provide a maximum of four Seekers who will try to find the Hiders.

The game will start with all Hiders and Seekers gathered at Home Base. Following a ten second countdown, Hiders will leave Home Base and will have five minutes to find a hiding place within the Game Area. During this time, Seekers will be blindfolded.

·         After five minutes, the first of the Seekers will remove their blindfold and leave Home Base in search of the Hiders.

·         After ten minutes, a second Seeker will leave Home Base and search for the Hiders.

·         After fifteen minutes, the final two Seekers will leave Home Base and search for the Hiders.

The Hider’s task is to hide from the Seekers and not be found for the 20 minute duration of the game.

Seekers will take a photo to prove they have found the Hider and will ask the Hider to emerge from their hiding spot. The Hider will then surrender their wrist band to the Seeker. Once found, the Hider is eliminated and takes no further part in the game.

If only one Hider remains unfound then that Hider is deemed the winner.

If after twenty minutes more than one Hider remains unfound, those Hiders will be asked to come out of hiding and return to Home Base.

The remaining Hiders will be asked a series of age appropriate trivia questions about the Ovation of the Seas. If the Hider answers correctly, as judged by our judges, they will remain in play. If they cannot answer or answer incorrectly, they will be eliminated from the game. The last Hider who provides a correct answer (where other Hiders fail to answer correctly) will be deemed the winner.

15+ YEAR OLDS GAME

The Game will consist of a maximum of three 20 minute rounds.

Each round has a specified Game Area on a designated deck. Players will confine themselves to the game area and may not enter any exclusion zone.

Round 1: Deck 4
Round 2: Deck 5
Round 3: Deck 14 and 15
Each Hider will wear a numbered Hider’s t-shirt (provided) and a wrist band (provided).

The game organisers will provide a maximum of four Seekers who will try to find the Hiders.

The game will start with all Hiders and Seekers gathered at Home Base. Following a ten second countdown, Hiders will leave Home Base and will have five minutes to find a hiding place on Deck 4. During this time, Seekers will be blindfolded.

Round One will begin with a maximum of twenty Hiders, on Deck 4

After five minutes, the first of the Seekers will remove their blindfold and leave their holding area in search of the Hiders.
After ten minutes, a second Seeker will be released.
After fifteen minutes, the final two Seekers will be released.
Seekers will take a photo to prove they have found the Hider and will ask the Hider to emerge from their hiding spot. The Hider will then surrender their wrist band to the Seeker. Once found, the Hider is eliminated and takes no further part in the game.

Round one will end once either of the following occurs (whichever occurs first):

A.    Half the hiders have been found; or

B.    20 minutes has expired.

At the conclusion of round one all Hiders who have not been found will progress through to Round two.

Round two will follow the same format as round one, however it will be played on Deck 5.

Round two will end once either of the following occurs (whichever occurs first):

A.    Only 5 hiders remain unfound; or

B.    20 minutes has expired.

At the conclusion of round two, all Hiders who have not been found will progress through to round three.

Round three will follow the same format as round one and two, however it will be played across Deck 14 and 15.

Round three will end once either of the following occurs (whichever occurs first):

A.    Only 1 Hider remains unfound; or

B.    20 minutes has expired.

If only one Hider remains unfound during this round then that Hider is deemed the winner.

If after twenty minutes more than one Hider remains unfound, those Hiders will be asked to come out of hiding and return to Home Base.

The remaining Hiders will be asked a series of trivia questions about the Ovation of the Seas. If the Hider answers correctly, as judged by our judges, they will remain in play. If they cannot answer or answer incorrectly, they will be eliminated from the game. The last Hider who provides a correct answer (where other Hiders fail to answer correctly) will be deemed the winner. If after three rounds of questions more than one Hider remains in play there will be a final “the quickest to answer” round to determine a winner.
