To get involved, pick up a registration form from your Accommodation or the Ceduna Visitor Information Centre (VIC) and then take it with you to the VIC between 10am and 3pm when you have your crab measured. Theres a small registration fee ($5 individual and $10 for a family) that needs to be paid before your first crab is measured, but then you can enter one crab per person per day.
If youve never caught a crab before, dont despair! They can be easily caught from both the Ceduna and Denial Bay Jetties with minimal equipment a crab net, some bait and your time; have a chat to the VIC or where you are staying. Quite often they will have everything you need and are happy to advise you or loan nets to use while you are visiting. Please make sure you are able to measure your crab accurately to determine that they are of legal size and are aware of how to identify a female crab so that you are able to quickly return them and undersized catches to the water. For more information about crab fishing methods, identification and limits, please have a look at information supplied by PIRSA here.
