WINTER IS whale -watching season in Queensland and the majestic ocean giants haven’t wasted any time arriving off our coastline.
The phenomenal growth in the humpback whale population has resulted in the marine mammals beginning their annual migration weeks early from Antarctica to the state’s warm tropical waters.
This season, more than 30,000 whales are expected to make the 5000km migration north and the large number of early sightings has even prompted some tourism operators to bring their whale-watching tours forward.
There have been several sightings off the south-east Queensland coast so whale enthusiasts should have their eyes peeled in coming weeks.
Until November, Brisbane’s Moreton Bay becomes the holiday destination for these amazing creatures and Quest Community News is offering the chance to win one of 14 family passes (two adults, two children) with Brisbane Whale Watching.
The prize includes a full day’s tour with the eco-accredited company on board a multi-million dollar catamaran, gourmet buffet lunch, expert whale behaviour commentary and guaranteed whale sightings, valued at $460 per pass.
The competition opens at 9am AEST on Wednesday 6 June 2018 and closes at midnight on Sunday 10 June 2018. Winners will be drawn and notified on Monday 11 June 2018.
