In Circa’s latest production 10 acrobats go on a stirring journey of what it means to be human – of how our bodies, our connections, and our aspirations all form part of who we are.
Exploring the physical limits of their bodies as they are pushed to the extreme, they question how much we can take as humans. How much weight can we carry? Who can we trust to support our load? They lead us to reflect on our lives, our loved ones and the burdens we carry, as well as the physical and emotional strength it takes to overcome them.
Created by Yaron Lifschitz, the stage is stripped bare as the vulnerability of a team of highly skilled acrobats is exposed. With incredible strength and integrity they connect each moment seamlessly with the next in a thrilling and heart-stopping performance. Glimpse their humanity as they find redemptive power in strength and celebrate what it means to be fiercely human, as they go faster, harder and higher than ever before.
Circa's reputation for fearless, boundary-pushing new circus is borne out in every one of their shows, which combine physical virtuosity with an expressive humanism. This is a show filled with strength, grace and agility.
Anyone who loved Circa’s performances of Landscape with Monsters and Beyond, should see Humans at Redland Performing Arts Centre at 7.30pm on Thursday, August 9. Tickets are $25-$45. Book on 3829 8131 or rpac.com.au (booking fees are $4.10 by phone and $5 online per transaction).
WIN: Redland City Bulletin has one double pass (value $90) to give away. To be in the draw to win, enter your details below by 9am on Monday, August 9. Conditions may apply. Winners will be contacted by a representative from RPAC and their names announced online.
NOTE: Not sure about the closing date: it says enter your details by Monday August 9 but the 9th Aug is a Thursday and the day the show is happening! So I've amended the closing date to the 30th July. But of course this might not be correct. Apologies in advance.
