The festival has become a truly unique part of the Australian festival landscape, it’s a kaleidoscope of dance, music and colour, showcasing the best, the essential and the surprising.
The 2019 international line-up features Africa’s musical diva and three-time Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo, international supergroup Silkroad Ensemble comprising musicians from over 20 countries, Soweto’s funk and grove group Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousnes, Cuban vocalist, flautist and percussionist, La Dame Blanche and Thai-flavoured psychedelic grooves of Texan trio Khruangbin. Plus, India’s acclaimed Amjad Ali Khan, just to highlight a few of the amazing performances.
Local acts include John Butler Trio, The Bamboos, Mojo JuJu, Adelaide’s own rising hip-hop star Tkay Maidza plus many more great acts including the immensely powerful 35-strong Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir.
We’re excited to announce that Myf Warhurst will be joining the ABC Adelaide team to broadcast live from WOMADelaide on Monday 11 March from 12.30pm.
Myf will bring listeners across the country some of the best sounds of the Festival with interviews and performances. Plus, we’re giving one lucky listener and their guest the chance to win an amazing flight and accommodation package to WOMAD to join her and all the excitement and entertainment across the festival weekend.
