Written by bonafide rom-com queen and Academy Award winner Emma Thompson, this holiday heart-warmer stars Thompson herself, alongside Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding.
The film depicts Kate (Emilia Clarke) as young aspiring singer whose hero is George Michael. Down on her luck, she harrumphs around London with bells on her feet due to her job as a year-round Christmas shop elf and encounters a bundle of bad decisions. After a life-threatening medical emergency, she moves back in with her mother (Emma Thompson). Tom (Henry Golding) seems too good to be true when he walks into her life and starts to see through so many of Kate’s barriers. As London transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, these two characters are obvious opposites. But sometimes, you gotta let the snow fall where it may, you gotta listen to your heart… and you gotta have faith.
Featuring the music of George Michael, including the classic of the film’s title, the film will also premier brand new, unreleased material by the legendary Grammy-winning artist. Based on the song, “Last Christmas” by George Michael, the idea came from the singer himself, as well as Thompson and her husband Greg Wise.
Dealing with the themes of unrequited and lost love, the film promises to be a dramatic romantic comedy with a lot more oomph to it.
