Title: OMG I won a holiday to Hamilton Island! Post by: zenbaba on Friday 23 January 2009, 08:11:58 pm I had a call from Lifestyle Food Channel this afternoon.
I was a runner up in their Hamilton Island Competition. I won a seven night holiday to Hamilton Island, accommodation in a 4 star resort, airfares and dinner for two in their restaraunt! Am over the moon! We have been wanting to elope to the Whitsundays but couldn't afford it so now we can get married! This is the reason I started comping - to win a holiday so we could elope! I won a holiday there too once. Fox FM re-married 100 couples on air for Valentine's Day and my husband and I won the honeymoon. A week before we were due to leave he decided it wouldn't be romantic and refused to go. I felt sad for the 99 other couples who could have had and enjoyed the holiday. I received a call from a company re a movie tix win the other week, and I felt a bit embarrassed afterwards with my (apparent) lack of excitement - the girl who rang kept saying "wow", "how awesome", "wow" (again), "how wonderful" - I did appreciate the win, but OMG it wasn't worth mega bucks. Every person who reads his book is left with the impression that under NO circumstances should you rhyme, but I keep seeing examples again and again that rhyming does indeed win comps (and it works for me too).

We were able to negotiate to take our kids and pay their airfares. My now 7.5 year old still raves about snorkelling on the reef! A tip: make sure you still save some $$$$'s to do the big stuff, like the catamaran to the reef, or a seaplane flight to Whitehaven Beach. And so you can buy lunch and dinner!
