Title: I won...but wasn't contacted?
Post by: ccollia on Tuesday 19 January 2010, 12:47:31 pm
I stumbled across the Leader Australian Open Ticket Giveaway draw results on the website and was delighted to find out I'd won a double ground pass...

However the tickets were only valid for yesterday's play and I wasn't notified (by either phone or mail as per the comp terms and conditions).

Has anyone had this happen to them in the past? Is it common practice? I'm really disappointed as I would've loved to have gone  :(

I've left a message with the marketing manager at Leader but I'm not hopeful I will be compensated with tickets I'll actually be able to use.

Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated  :D

Was this a local newspaper???

i know our local newspaper outs the winners in the PN's and it is up to you to check them for your name.
Might not be the case in you win though.

Good luck

It was a competition in all local Leader newspapers.

They did post the winners online, however I wasn't keeping an eye out as the terms and conditions stated "20. Each prize winner will be contacted by telephone or in writing within 7 days of the draw"

I just got a call back and apparently they were sent express post last week BUT to the wrong address  :? The person I'm dealing with is quite lovely though and said she would investigate further, so fingers crossed  :D

I had something similar happen to me through Quest Newspapers. A one-show only pass worth around $200 took two weeks for them to send to me (arrived a couple of days after the concert). I found out because my name was listed on the website, but they had said they would make contact with the winners.

It was a matter of 'too bad, we listed the winners on the website' for me :(.

I had this happen to me too :) I googled my name to see if I had won anything I missed and came accross a prize of a Year's Free Internet from my ISP from 8 months before. I contacted them as I had never been contacted and they said they tried but never got hold of me (wtf, you have my email and all my phone numbers!!) BUT they have honoured it.

I think if you are nice about it they wil be more likely to want to help, and it sounds like you are :)

Good luck!

Hi hancockl,

May I ask you a question please?

I just googled for the first time my full name, to check if I had won any prizes. I didn't came across of any winnings, which leaves me to the question... do only wins show up for a certain time on Google? Even wins that I have won in the past are not displayed.

Cheers!

Not all wins seem to come up on google for some reason. But I suppose its worth checking (just in case).

Site admins can place a robots.txt file for their site so their webpages aren't crawled by search engines. This would mean that places like Google wouldnt show the results.
