Terms & Conditions of Entry
Method of Entry:
1. Entry is open to Australian residents over the age of 18 (‘eligible persons’).
Employees of Great Southern Rail (The Promoter) and their immediate families are
ineligible to enter.
2. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry. Entry
into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry. Entry is via
online registration at www.greatsouthernrail.com.au
3. To qualify for the draw, eligible persons must complete the following between 26TH
July 2010 and 27th September 2010 by visiting www.greatsouthernrail.com.au:
a. complete their details where required and submit electronically
b. upon submitting their details, participants may also ‘refer a friend’ by entering
their friend’s name and email address. Each additional ‘refer a friend’ name
and email address that a participant records will entitle them to a bonus
‘Refer a Friend’ entry into the competition.
4. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information or for any
of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this competition, or for
any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the
administration of this competition including any omission, interruption, deletion,
defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone, mobile
or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration
of entries.
5. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who
the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or
engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the
fair and proper conduct of the promotion. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover
damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
6. All entries become the property of the Promoter. All entries will be entered into a
database and The Promoter may use the entrant’s names, addresses and telephone
numbers for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes in any media
worldwide without notice and without any fee being paid unless otherwise advised by
the entrant. By entering the promotion, entrants confirm that they allow their details to
be used for this purpose. If entrants do not consent to their details being used for
future marketing purposes, the entrant should contact The Promoter.
Entry Terms and Conditions:
1. A person may not refer themselves and in doing so will disqualify that entry.
2. Entrants can only enter in their own name and use their own email address. The
Promoter reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of age, identity, proof
of residency at the nominated prize delivery address, and/or proof of entry validity.
Proof of identification, residency and entry considered suitable for verification is at the
discretion of the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to validate and check the
authenticity of any prize claim or entry before awarding a prize.
Duration of Promotion:
7. The promotion commences on 26th July 2010 at 9.00am (CST) and concludes on 27
September 2010 at 5.00pm (CST).
Details of Prizes and Prize Values:
8. There will be one prize for up to four (4) people of a holiday voucher to travel on
either The Ghan or the Indian Pacific plus products and services specified by Great
Southern Rail and valued at up to $25,000 in total. The value of the prize is accurate
and based upon the recommended retail prices of the prize at the date of printing.
The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prize after
that date. The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable, cannot be taken as cash
and are subject to availability. The winner (and their travelling companion’s ) must
depart from and return to the same departure point and travel together. Frequent
flyer points will not form part of the prize. Prize is subject to the standard terms and
conditions of individual prize and service providers. Winner may be required to
present credit card at time of accommodation check in. The prizes must be
redeemed prior to 30th June 2011. All ancillary costs including connecting flights /
transportation, accommodation and travel insurance not expressly provided are the
responsibility of the winner. Spending money, additional meals, beverages,
insurance, transport to and from departure point, items of a personal nature, in-room
charges and all other ancillary costs are not included. Each prize is subject to the
terms and conditions of Great Southern Rails general terms and conditions of
carriage to be found at www.greatsouthernrail.com.au
9. Participants who ‘refer a friend’ will receive an additional entry into the competition.
Entrants may continue referring up until the conclusion of the competition on the 27th
September 2010.
10. Entrants will only be entitled to receive an additional entry for genuine referrals. The
Promoter reserves the right to investigate the authenticity of each referral prior to
issuing Travel Coupons. Invalid referrals may result in disqualification of the
entitlement.
11. The Promoter is unable to issue any Travel Coupons prior to the conclusion of the
competition.
12. The Promoter will receive notification of all entrants and referrals at the conclusion of
the competition and will allocate all Travel Coupons on Monday 18th October 2010.
13. It is a condition of entry to this competition that you consent to your and email
address being retained by the Promoter for the purposes of advising you of the
winners of this competition and for the purposes of emailing you notification of similar
competitions or special offer promotions. Please note that on each such
communication there will be an ‘unsubscribe’ link, which if selected by you, will result
in the Promoter immediately ceasing to send you these communications.
15. The Promoter will not provide your details to any third parties or agencies associated
with this promotion or any other party.
16. If the prizes are unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to
substitute any of the prizes for a prize of equal or greater value. Subject to relevant
state authorities.
17. In the event that for any reason whatsoever a winner does not take an element of the
prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter then that element of the prize will be
forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the
prize.
18. The prize must be taken as offered and cannot be varied. Prize values are GST
inclusive and are in Australian dollars and are recommended retail value as provided
by the supplier and are correct at time of printing. The Promoter accepts no
responsibility for any variation in prize value.
19. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered
(including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or any personal injury
suffered or sustained in connection with any prize/s except for liability, which cannot
be excluded by law.
20. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information or for any
of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this competition, or for
any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the
administration of this competition including any omission, interruption, deletion,
defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone, mobile
or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to our
alteration to entries.
Draw, time and place of draw:
21. The electronic draw will take place at Great Southern Rail, 422 King William Street,
Adelaide, SA, 5000 on Monday 4th October 2010 at 12pm (CST). The prize winners
will be selected at random from a computer-generated listing of entries. The result of
the draws is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Note: The Electronic Draw Process is subject to approval
22. If a prize remains unclaimed on Tuesday, 4th January 2011, a second chance draw
will be held at 12pm (CST) on Monday, 17th January 2011 at Great Southern Rail,
422 King William Street, Adelaide, SA 5000, subject to any written directions given
under applicable law.
23. If for any reason this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including due to
infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud,
technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which
corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of
this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any
individual who tampers with the entry process, and, subject to any written directions
given by the Office of the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner, to cancel, terminate,
modify or suspend the promotion.
24. In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes
the result or prevents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to
vandalism, power failures, tempests
