Young writers 21 and under across Australia are invited to enter the Young Calibre Prize, presented by Australian Book Review and Copyright Agency Limited.

The prize is for an outstanding piece of creative non-fiction of between 1000–3000 words.

Terms and conditions of entry:
1. An original single-authored non-fiction essay in English of between 1000 and 3000 words.
2. All non-fiction subjects are eligible: from life writing to history and politics and environmental
studies, to visual arts, music and media studies.
3. Entries must not be previously published elsewhere or be on offer to any other publication
or prize.
4. The name of the essayist must not appear on the manuscript.
5. We require two copies of each essay.
5. Essays will be judged anonymously.
6. Entries must be non-defamatory and must not infringe people’s privacy or intellectual
property.
7. The judges’ decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into.
8. Entrants must be 21 or younger on 10 December 2010.
9. Entrants must reside in Australia or be Australian citizens living overseas.
10. Multiple entries are acceptable.
11. Where multiple essays are entered, a separate entry form must accompany each essay.
12. Each entry must be accompanied by a fee of $10 (or FREE for current ABR subscribers).
Cheques and Money Orders should be made payable to Australian Book Review.
13. The closing date is 10 December 2010, and late entries will not be accepted.
Entries postmarked 10 December 2010 will be accepted.
14. ABR will announce the result in early 2011. ABR will publish the winning essay,
which must not be published prior to publication in ABR.
15. ABR will have the first option to publish shortlisted and longlisted essays.
16. Entrants will be notified by email of the final decision.
17. Shortlisted entrants may be required to take part in media activities connected with the
announcement of the Prize.
18. Entries will not be returned.
19. Entrants must sign the order form to be eligible.
20. ABR reserves the right not to award a prize.
Format:
1. Entries must be printed on one side of white A4 paper.
2. Illustrations and concise endnotes are acceptable.
3. The pages of essays should be numbered.
4. Entries by fax or email will not be accepted. Entries must be mailed to
