Win a chance to meet Catherine Britt at the Queenscliff Music Festival

Closes : Sunday 21 Nov 2010

In an epic summer weekend event that engulfs the whole of the town, Queenscliff Music Festival famously encompasses all types of music – blues, roots, rock,pop,soul/groove, classical, jazz, country, folk, world/reggae and acoustic – accommodating the tastes of young, old and everything in-between, in unexpected venues.

This year, CMC are giving one lucky winner and their friend the opportunity to attend the festival and meet Catherine Britt.

Catherine Britt Releases New Self-Titled Album after returning home from the United States the first thing Catherine Britt had on her mind, apart from a dip in the blue Pacific Ocean, was to head to the studio and record an album that truly summed up where she was as a song writer and artist.

Recorded towards the end of 2009 at Melbourne’s iconic Sing Sing Studio and produced by Shane Nicholson and Bill Chambers, Catherine Britt is an un-compromising and heartfelt album born of love, pain, loss and sorrow. It’s her most personal, diverse and mature album to date.

With Catherine either writing or co-writing all 14 tracks on the album, it is a true songwriters album and stands its ground based on the songs written & subsequently recorded. As it should be. No duets needed. No special guests required.

The new offering has been inspired by some of the greats: Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Hank Williams, Paul Kelly, Patty Griffin, aPaPnd Ryan Adams. "I really love music from the Appalachian Mountains,” Catherine says of genre that has been in her blood since she was a small child.

Performing since the age of 10, Catherine credits her father - whom she describes as "a walking historian of music" – as developing her initial passion for music.

Despite the rollercoaster ride of success over the past several years, Catherine remains refreshingly down-to-earth. For now, fate has allowed Catherine to catch her breath as she focuses fully on her talent as a singer and songwriter.

"It has always been my dream just to be honoured as songwriter as well as a singer – that's very important to me."
