Photography Competition

Two categories:

13 -17 year olds
18-25 year olds
 

Three themes:
  1. Landscape
The world upside down! Create a Surrealist and/or Cubist landscape.

Use your photographic tools and computer programs to compose a Surrealist or Cubist image (this could be a streetscape, cityscape or interior) inspired by artists such as Max Ernst, Leonora Carrington or Yves Tanguy.

2. Surrealist Portrait
Say cheese! Create a Surrealist and/or Cubist portrait.

Use your photographic tools and computer programs to compose a portrait inspired by Surrealist and/or Cubist artists such as André Kertész, Victor Brauner or Pablo Picasso.

3. Environmental Portrait: Uncover an emerging artist
Step into the shoes of the flamboyant and passionate Peggy Guggenheim, who encouraged and supported new artists and was often photographed with them. Find artists within your social environment and document them at work, with or without you in the picture

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. The Art Gallery of Western Australia’s Peggy Guggenheim: A Collection in Venice Photography Awards is open to all photographers between 13 and 25 years old.

2. All entries must arrive at the following address: Photography Awards c/- P. Lowe, Art Gallery of Western Australia, PO Box 8363, Perth Business Centre, Perth WA 8849 by Monday 6 December 2010. Late entries will not be accepted.

3. Entries must be A4 sized, high quality images - please do not frame.

4. It will not be possible to access works for any purpose, whilst they are on site of the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

5. The judging panel is responsible for short-listing works for the awards at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Their decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

6. The Art Gallery of Western Australia reserves the right to display works as they see appropriate and no correspondence will be entered into regarding placement of individual works.

7. Entrants agree that their photographs and details can be reproduced either in whole or detail by the Art Gallery of Western Australia for educational purposes, for advertising or promotional purposes, in the media, on the Art Gallery of Western Australia website, for posters and signage.

8. The Art Gallery of Western Australia reserves the right to cancel or alter published dates for exhibition.

9. The Art Gallery of Western Australia has high standards of security and all due care and attention will be taken with the artworks submitted. However, the Gallery accepts no responsibility or liability for loss or damage to artworks during drop-off, collection, storage and exhibition.

10. All entrants under the age of 18 must have their parent/guardian co-sign their entry form.

11. Entrants can submit as many entries as they wish, however, please indicate if your work is part of a series.

12. Entrants submitting artwork in more than one themed category, please include a separate entry form for
each category.
