THE end of the year is here, and that means a few very lucky people are waiting for their 2011 Pirelli Calendar to arrive.  Only 10,000 of the Calendars are produced, and less than 200 will come to Australia, mainly to be given to a confidential list of VIPs and celebrities – and six lucky Carsguide readers.

Yes, Pirelli and Carsguide will be giving away six of the 2011 Calendars, which have been photographed by legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, the maestro of Chanel.  From his Paris studio, Lagerfeld has created a tribute to ancient Greek and Roman mythology, with 36 monochrome photos

“Actresses and models bring these new heroes to life and depict a new concept of the beautiful,” Lagerfeld says.  His photos feature actress Julianne Moore and 20 of the world’s top models - 15 female and 5 male, the latter a rare focus for the Pirelli Calendar, and one that might make it even more appealing to women.

Australia’s Abbey Lee Kershaw returns for a starring role, joined by Italian models Bianca Balti and Elisa Sednaoui; Denmark’s Freja Beha Erichsen, Brazilian beauty Isabeli Fontana, Poland’s Magdalena Frackowiak and Anja Rubik, India’s Lakshmi Menon, USA’s Heidi Mount and Erin Wasson, Russia’s Natasha Poly, Holland’s Lara Stone and Canada’s Daria Werbowy, Austria’s Iris Strubegger and Jamaica’s Jeneil Williams. The male models are Frenchmen Baptiste Giabiconi and Sébastien Jondeau, Americans Brad Kroenig and Garret Neff and Britain’s Jake Davis.

Each of the six calendars will be won by a reader in one of six state groupings – New South Wales/ACT, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia/NT, Western Australia and Tasmania.

And as an extra special bonus, one reader will roll off with a set of Pirelli Cinturato tyres, designed to reduce fuel consumption but maintain performance – two key abilities that have seen Pirelli become the official tyre of Formula One.

To enter, check out our gallery of Lagerfeld’s photos and then in the poll link below tell us in about 25 words if you think they will appeal as much to women as to men – and why.

To be in the running for the bonus set of Pirelli Cinturato tyres, add your age group and gender, and to have a second entry for the tyres, tell us when you last replaced your tyres, how much per tyre they cost you, and what kind of vehicle you drive.

Entries close at 5 PM AEST on Thursday 20 January 2011. The final decision on the winners will be made at 12:00pm AEST Friday 21 January 2011 at Level 10 37 York Street, Sydney NSW 2000. Winners will be notified by email and their names will be published on Carsguide.com.au on Tuesday 25 January 2011.
