How to enter
To enter ‘The Flakin great giveaway’ competition, all you need to do is:

Step 1: Take a photo of yourself wearing your snow gear in the most random place you can think of.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Enter now’ tile below, fill out our comp form, and upload your image. Simple!
Competition closes on Tuesday 15 February 2011, so get snapping.

Tips

Wearing ski gear on the beach, during a serious business meeting, or even wearing whilst swimming in a pool will get you in.
Points will also be awarded for originality of ski wear… i.e hot pink one piece suits will impress the judges!
The ‘flakin great snow giveaway’ prize includes**:
1. An ‘all expenses paid’* holiday to Japan, staying at 3 different snow resorts in the Tohoku ski area for two people for 10 days, kindly provided by DEEP POWDER TOURS Ski Holidays and Tohoku Tourism. This includes:

Return flights from Australia X 2 people
Transport transfers whilst in Japan X 2 people
3 x nights accommodation in Zao, 3 x nights accommodation in Alts, 3 x nights accommodation in APPI, 1 x night accommodation in Sendai x 2 people
Lift passes, plus breakfast each morning x 2 people
2. TWO brand spanking new jackets and pants, generously provided by the crew at The North Face, PLUS a choice of either a snowboard or set of skis from Rhythm Snowsports Japan**.

2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1 The DAILY FLAKE PRIZE DRAW is sponsored by DEEP POWDER TOURS Ski Holidays, Tohoku Tourism, The Northface and Rhythm Snowsports Japan.
2.2 The Draw is only open to persons at least eighteen years of age, and is open to persons world-wide.
2.3 There is only one WINNER for this competition.
2.4 Employees and directors of The Daily Flake, DEEP POWDER TOURS Ski Holidays, Tohoku Tourism, The North Face and Rhythm Snowsports Japan (and their immediate families—children, spouse, parents, siblings—and those living in their same households whether or not related) are not eligible to participate in the Draw.
2.5 By participating, each entrant (“Entrant”) agrees to be bound by these Official Rules (the “Rules”), which are final and binding in all respects.
2.6 Entrants agree that The DAILY FLAKE PRIZE DRAW and its sponsors has Owners Rights (“Owners Rights”) to the images submitted as part of the competition and have the right to alter, change, modify, edit, repackage, and redistribute the submitted image in any media, and without compensation of any kind and without notice, or approval.
2.7 By submitting images as part of the competition, Entrants agree to provide full image use approval, for promotion on The Daily Flake website, and on any other media, sponsor or other websites without compensation of any kind and without notice, or approval.

3. DRAW PERIOD
3.1 The Draw begins at 9:00am local time (Niseko, Japan) on Tuesday 4th January 2011 and ends at 3pm local time, (Niseko Japan) on Friday 18 Feb 2011 (the “Draw Period”). All times noted for the Draw is in Niseko, Japan local time.
3.2 The Winner of the Voter Prize will be drawn on Monday 21 February at 4:00pm local time, Niseko Japan (5:00pm AEST) at The Daily Flake office, Niseko Japan.
3.3 There is only one winner for the Voter Prize and this is not negotiable.
3.4 The Prize winner will be notified by email and phone on the draw period.
3.5 Details of the prize winner will be published on The Daily Flake website, Facebook and Twitter page at 4pm local time in Niseko, Japan, as well as during the Daily video snow report on the 21st February 2011
3.6 The Prize winner has three months from the draw date to claim the Prize.
3.7 If the Prize is not claimed, a redraw will be made on 25/05/2011.
3.8 The redraw will take place at the Australian office of The Daily Flake; 55 Harbord Road, Freshwater NSW 2096.
3.9 The redraw winner Details of the Voter Prize will be published on The Daily Flake website, Facebook and Twitter page on 25/05/2011 at 5pm AEST

4. TO ENTER:
4.1 To enter, the Entrant must first take a photo wearing his/her ski gear
4.2 The Entrant then needs to go to the competition page on The Daily Flake website www.thedailyflake.com/competition, fill out the online competition form (“VOTER FORM”), and upload the photo to the form. View instructions on how to enter here: www.thedailyflake.com/competition
4.3 Entrants must provide all mandatory information
4.4 Entries received without the appropriate information will not be accepted.
4.5 Entries must be received and recorded by The Daily Flake during the Draw Period.
4.6 All Entries will be submitted to the Daily Flake and must comply with these Terms and Conditions
4.7 An Entrant may only submit ONCE
4.8 Entries will not be returned by The Daily Flake

5. PROCESSING:
5.1 The Winner will be notified by email and phone.
5.2 The Winner may not substitute, assign, or transfer a prize or redeem a prize for cash.
5.3 The Daily Flake and its sponsors reserve the right to substitute an advertised prize with another prize of equal or greater value if advertised prize becomes unavailable.
5.4 The prizes presented in advertising material may not be an exact replica of actual prizes
5.5 The winner will be solely responsible for any and all applicable taxes associated with the relevant prize.
5.6 By submitting an Entry, the Entrant grants The Daily Flake the right to use Entrant’s name, [age, town], image and Entry for the purpose of identifying Entrant as a winner. Such Entry may be altered, changed, modified, edited, used alone, or used with other works in any form, in any media, by our Sponsors and without compensation of any kind and without notice, review, or approval.

6. DETAILS OF PRIZE, PRODUCTS, APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE (‘ARV’) AND TERMS OF USE:

The term ‘all expenses paid’ only refers to what is included in this prize, and does not include expenses such as lunch or dinner meals, travel outside the prize locations, and any other expenses not listed in the above prize details. Please refer to points 6.1 through to 6.4 in the terms and conditions for details.

6.1 THE PRIZE is provided by DEEP POWDER TOURS, Tohoku Tourism, The North Face and Rhythm Snowsports Japan
6.2 There are two components to the Voter Prize and include; 1 X ‘Packaged Holiday to Tohoku, Japan’, and a ‘gear and equipment’ package.
6.3 The ‘Packaged Holiday to Tohoku Japan’ component is valued at up to $7,500 AUD, and is provided by DEEP POWDER TOURS Ski Holidays and Tohoku Tourism. Prize details and conditions include the following:
6.3.1 Packaged holiday for two people to Tohoku resorts, Japan.
6.3.2 Return economy airfares for two persons to Toyko (Narita) ex SYD, MELB, BNE, ADL or PER. If the WINNER of the PRIZE DRAW resides outside of Australia, flights will not be substituted for flights outside of Australia. However, all other prize components will be awarded to the WINNER.
6.3.3 Return coach airport transfers from Tokyo to Tohoku resorts X 2 people
6.3.4 Accommodation for 10 X days including breakfast (Twin share). This includes:
• 3 X nights in Zao ski resort
• 3 X nights in Alts ski resort
• 3 X nights in Appi
• 1 X night in Sendai
6.3.5 Lift passes covering all days in all resorts X 2 people
6.3.6 The holiday must be redeemed during the 2012 Northern Hemisphere season, for departure between Wednesday 10 February 2012 and Monday 28 March 2012.
6.3.7 DEEP POWDER TOURS reserve the right to choose the airline carrier depending on flight availability, routing and departure city. This is subject to the relevant State Authorities who licence this promotion.
6.3.8 Tohoku Tourism reserves the right to supplement accommodation to that of a similar standard depending on availability.
6.4 The ‘Outwear and Equipment Package’ component Approximate Retail Value (ARV) is $3,000, and is provided by The North Face and Rhythm Snowsports Japan:
6.4.1 1 X choice of a set of skis OR snowboard
6.4.2 2 X sets of The North Face jacket and pants
6.4.3 Rhythm Snowsports and The North Face reserve the right to supply equipment and outerwear most suitable to the requirements of the PRIZE winner.
6.4.4 Rhythm Snowsports and The North Face reserve the right to substitute an advertised prize with another prize of equal or greater value if advertised prize becomes unavailable.
5. APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE (“ARV”) OF PRIZES:
5.1 Approximate value of PRIZE is ¥870,000 (JPY) OR $10,500 (AUD). This value represents the retail
value.
6. LIABILITY:
6.1 The Daily Flake and its Sponsors accept no responsibility for any other damage, loss, liabilities injury or disappointment arising from participation in the Draw, or in relation to prizes awarded.
6.2 The Daily Flake and its Sponsors shall not be responsible for any failure to comply with the Rules, where such failure is due to events outside The Daily Flake’s reasonable control. Such events shall include, but are not limited to any act of God or public enemy, war, government act or regulation, fire, flood, labour strike, accident, or severe weather, or any other “force majeure” event. Such events shall include, but are not limited to any:
6.2.1 technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in this competition; or
6.2.2 act of God or public enemy, war, government act or regulation, fire, flood, labour strike, accident, or severe weather, or any other “force majeure” event.

7. PRIVACY:
7.1 To request access to, or to update, personal information The Daily Flake holds about them, entrants can contact the office of The Daily Flake (an administrative fee may be imposed to access personal information).”
