Shock DVD / Region 4 / Released January 12, 20111

This month Shock are releasing an excellent atmospheric collection of World War II documentaries taking us right into the heart of Hitler's Army and to celebrate we have copies to give away!

Made up of three volumes Voices From Hitlers Army begins with Volume One Waffen SS: The Alibi For History which takes a look at the SS army which actually had almost a million non Germans in its ranks. Volume two Russia: The Unholy War moves on to the bitter and extremely bloody Russian Front whilst Volume 3 Defending Berlin: The Last Battles heads towards the end of the war when Hitler's world was crumbling around him.

A genuinely fascinating series of docos featuring as they do contributions from some of the last survivors of Hitler's Army.

I have been contemplating the bit below and wondering if the date should be September 3 as that would have been when war was actually declared by Winston Churchill, 2 days after the invasion of Poland.

"The commencement of World War 2 has different dates in different countries. To the Americans, World War 2 started on December 7th, 1941, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbour. To Britain, France, Canada, Poland, World War 2 started on Sept. of 1939, when Nazi Germany attacked Poland. To Czechoslovakia, World War Two started in March of 1939, when Nazi Germany attacked them. To the Ethiopians, World War Two started in 1936, when Italy attacked. To the Chinese, it dates back to 1931, when Japan occupied Manchuria. The Russians date the start in June 1941 (not 1939)."

On September 3, 1939, Britain declared war on Germany. This marks the beginning of World War II in Europe
