The Prize
More than $10,000 worth of prizes
As the Myer Face of Canberra Racing you will receive the VIP treatment with styling, access to VIP events and an experience of a lifetime.

Prizes include $1000 cash, a modelling portfolio by the Mark Agency, a $500 Myer gift card and a beautiful crystal vase trophy. Most importantly, the Myer Face of Canberra Racing will be seen in all the right places. The 2011 Myer Face of Canberra Racing winner will also be the celebrity host of Thoroughbred Park TV, to be launched at the Black Opal Stakes Raceday.

The 2011 Myer Face of Canberra Racing will not only go on to indulge and enjoy prizes ranging from cosmetics to cash but will also be the face of all Thoroughbred Park's advertising material, posters, brochures, and website. She needs to be fashion-savvy with a professional manner. This title will give her the chance to grow her confidence, experience working with the media, extend their portfolio, and gain invaluable knowledge of the fashion industry. She will also be required to make appearances at various cocktail parties and functions hosted by Thoroughbred Park.

OutInCanberra’s
Favourite Face: Public Vote
The Canberra Public will also have to the opportunity to vote for their favourite contestant from the top 50 applicants with the title of OutInCanberra's Favourite Face: Public Vote also up for grabs. Public voting will open at 9am, Tuesday 22nd February at www.outincanberra.com.au with the winner announced at the Black Opal Cocktail Evening, Friday 11 March 2011.

NOTE: This competition is open to all female Canberra residents between the ages of 18 and 40. Applications close 5pm AEST Monday 21 February 2011.





1. Information on how to apply and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions.

2. The Promoter is the Canberra Racing Club, Randwick Road, Lyneham ACT 2602. ABN 21 423 896 409.

3. Applications are open to female residents who reside in and around the ACT.  You must be between the ages of 18 and 35 as at the application date.  Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and its agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter.  Applicants must be available between 22 February and 13 March 2011.

4. All finalists must be available for an introduction and judging parade at Preview Day, Sunday 27 February 2011 as part of the judging process.  10 finalists will be announced and will parade at the Black Opal cocktail evening on Friday 11 March as part of the judging process.  One winner will be announced on the evening.
5. The winner of the 2011 Myer Face of Canberra Racing will be involved in, without limitation, a minimum of five (5) appearances which may include, but are limited to the following dates:
(a) Canberra Cup – November 2011;
(b) ACTTAB Tony Campbell Memorial Cup, September 2011;
(c) Kamberra Wine Black Opal Stakes Day – March 2012;
(d) Melbourne Cup Race Day – November 2011; and
(e) other functions or promotions as required.


6. Competition opens 12 February 2011 and closes at 5pm AEST 21 February 2011.  Limit of one application per person.  Only applications completed on the official application form and posted will be accepted. No responsibility accepted for late, lost or misdirected applications.

7. Chance plays no part in determining the winner and finalists of the Myer Face of Canberra Racing.  Each applicant will be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion, including but not limited to the applicants appearance, grooming, personal style, interpretation of style, a genuine interest in horse racing and fashions on the field and the literary and creative merit of their responses to the entry form question and submitted photographs.  Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  Preliminary interviews, both via telephone and face to face may also form part of the screening process and will be at the Canberra Racing Club’s discretion.

8. The Marketing Department of the Canberra Racing Club will collect all forms.

9. Guests and supportive friends are able to purchase tickets to the cocktail evening for $55 per person and include canapés and beverages.  Tickets can be purchased by contacting Thoroughbred Park on 6204 0000.  Minimum 5 per entrant.

9. The promoter will notify the unsuccessful applicants.

10. All costs including but not limited to transport, spending money, meals, taxes, insurance and other ancillary costs associated with attending and taking part in the competition are the sole responsibility of the applicant.  It is a condition of attending the cocktail party that finalists provide photo identification as proof of identity and residency and confirms that they are over the age of 18.  It is also a condition of attending the finalist presentation cocktail evening that all finalists sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion, warranting that the finalist has no criminal record, consenting to the Promoter’s use of the finalists name, image, in any media worldwide for any marketing, advertising and/or publicity purposes for an unlimited period, without further reference or payment to the finalist and further warranting that there is no restriction of obligation which would prevent such use by the Promoter.

11. A judging panel of fashion industry experts and professionals will determine the finalists.  The panel will be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion and the Promoter reserves the right to change or substitute participants in this judging panel at any time without prior notice.  From the final 10 successful entrants one person will win the 2011 Myer Face of Canberra Racing competition.

12. The Promoter will have the right to refuse entry of a participant.

13. The winner of the 2011 Face of Canberra Racing will not be able to partake in any promotional material using the title without prior approvals from the Promoter.

MAJOR PRIZES
The best finalist, as determined by the judges will win the major prizes valued at over $10,000 consisting of:
Crystal trophy vase from Winning Edge presentations $600 Myer gift card   $500

13. The Canberra Racing Club retains the right to substitute an alternative prize to the same value.
14. Runners up (9) will receive a prize pack consisting of
(a) 2 x general admission tickets to the Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes
(b) 2 x member’s tickets to the Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes

14. A letter of agreement will be signed by the winner of the competition which states the obligations with respect to participating in photo shoots, fashion presentations, media interviews, and other media related marketing, advertising, promotional and publicity activities as required by the Promoter for a period of no less than 12 months.  The prize will be awarded in full and final satisfaction of the winner’s participation in all Canberra Racing Club marketing/advertising/promotional/publicity activities and

16. It is a condition of accepting the Major Prize that the winner will sign a Confidentiality Agreement, A Talent/Release Agreement and a Letter of Agreement in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion, setting out the winner’s obligations with respect to participating in photographic sessions, fashion presentations, media interviews and other media-related marketing, advertising, promotional and publicity activities, as required by the Promoter for a period of no less than twelve (12) months.  The prize will be awarded in full and final satisfaction of the winner’s participation in all Canberra Racing Club marketing/advertising/promotional/publicity activities and no payments will be made.  The Promoter will determine, in its absolute discretion, the nature and level of involvement and media exposure for all marketing/advertising/promotional and publicity activities.  The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to allow the winner to take part in any or all aspects of the prize, if the Promoter determines, in its absolute discretion that the winner is not in the mental or physical condition necessary to be able to participate.

17. In the event that for any reason whatsoever the prize winner, a finalist or an application does not take an element of their prize or gift entitlement at the time stipulated by the Promoter, that that element of the prize/entitlement will be forfeited by the prize winner/finalist/applicant and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the prize/entitlement.

18.Prizes/entitlements or any unused portion of a prize/entitlement is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.  No responsibility is accepted for any variation in the value of any prize/entitlement of any aspect of a prize/entitlement.  In the event that a prize (s)/entitlement(s) is/are not available the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize (s)/entitlement(s) in its absolute discretion to the same and equal recommended retail value and/or specification.

19.The Promoter collects applications personal information in order to conduct the promotion.  If the information requested is not provided the applicant may be refused participation in the promotion.  By submitting an application unless otherwise advised by the applicant, each applicant consents to the information they submit with their application (including their photograph and responses to the questions) being entered into a database and the Promoter may use this information in any media for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without any further reference or payment or other compensation to the applicant including sending the applicant electronic messages.  All personal details of the application will be stored at the office of the Promoter.  A request to access, update or correct any information should be directed to that office.  In addition all applications (including all accompanying photographs, literary pieces etc) become the property of the Promoter.
