This month we are giving away 5 soundtrack CDs from the cult ’80s ABC TV show Sweet and Sour.

Sweet and Sour traced the first twelve months in the life of The Takeaways, a young novice band playing Sydney’s inner city pub circuit, and starred Tracy Mann and David Reyne. Some of Australia’s top artists provided their voice to the songs on the soundtrack including Deborah Conway, Sharon O’Neill and Ian Moss.

Terms and Conditions


This document sets out the terms of participation in ABC Countdown's "Sweet and Sour CD" competition (the "Competition").
1.    The Promoter of this competition is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (the "Promoter") (ABN 524 292 78345), 700 Harris Street, Ultimo, New South Wales, Australia.
2.    Entry to the Competition is open to Countdown Club members who visit and complete the entry requirements from the countdown.com.au website during the period commencing 9am AEST Thursday 20th January 2011 and ending 5pm Thursday 17th February 2011 ("Competition Period"). An entrant must be an individual and not a company or organisation. Entrants must be Australian residents. Entrants under 18 years of age must have the consent of their parent or guardian to enter. Employees of the Promoter or any person associated with the Competition and their immediate families, or any organisation or individual associated with the provision of the prize(s) are not eligible to enter.
3.    Each entry must be entered in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. By entering the Competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. The Promoter may in its discretion refuse to award any prize to any entrant who fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
4.    Entry into the Competition is free.
5.    To enter the Competition an entrant must:
o    Log in as a Countdown Club Member
o    Complete the online entry form
o    Submit the entry online during the competition period ("Entry").
6.    Each entry must include their name, address and daytime phone number or the entry will be deemed invalid.
7.    By entering the Competition, an entrant is eligible to win:
o    the prize as set out in clause 10 below ("Prize").
8.    Any entry received after the expiry of the Competition Period will be deemed invalid. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost, delayed or misdirected entries.
9.    An entrant may not enter the Competition more than once.
10.    The 5 Prize Winners will receive 1 x CD: Sweet and Sour soundtrack
11.    Each Prize is valued at AUD 27.99 (including GST).
12.    The total maximum prize pool is valued at AUD 139.95(including GST).
13.    The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in prize value.
14.    All entries in the competition go into a random draw. The 5 winners will be drawn on 18th February 2011 via a NSW gaming commission approved random number engine from the total entrants list. The draws will be conducted at Level 9, 700 Harris Street Ultimo NSW.
15.    No component of the prize can be transferred or redeemed for cash. In the event that any of the prizes become unavailable due to circumstances beyond the Promoter's control, the Promoter reserves the right to provide a similar product to the same or greater value as the original prize, subject to any applicable laws or written directions made under applicable legislation.
16.    All entries become the property of the Promoter and will not be returned to the entrants.
17.    Each entrant warrants that any details provided with his/her entry are true and accurate and the entrant will indemnify the Promoter against any loss or damage resulting from any breach of this warranties.
18.    Each entrant agrees that the Promoter may use the entry and any personal details provided to the Promoter for any promotional, marketing and publicity purposes of the Promoter in any media without notice and without any fee paid to the entrant.
19.    Decisions of the Promoter and its panel of judges are final and will be binding on each person who enters the Competition and no correspondence will be entered into. Each Prize Winner will be notified using the contact details provided with the Prize Winner's entry. The name of each Prize Winner and the city/town/suburb in which each lives, will be posted on the countdown.com.au website. Please allow at least 28 days from the date of notification for the delivery of the prize.
20.    If there is any event that prevents or hinders the Promoter's conduct of the Competition or the Promoter's ability to deliver the prizes to the Prize Winners of the Competition, the Promoter may, in its discretion, cancel the Competition and recommence it at another time under the same conditions or select another winner.
21.    The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this competition, or for any technical error that may occur in the course of the administration of this competition. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
22.    To the full extent permitted by the law, the ABC will not be liable for any injury, damages, expenses, or loss whatsoever (whether direct or inconsequential) to persons or property as a result of any person entering into the Competition or accepting or using any prize, including without limitation non-receipt of any prize or damage to any prize in transit.
