The Chronicle's Birthday Cash Bonanza Competition

1. Method of entry:  Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of the terms and conditions.

To enter, Contestants must collect:
(a) an entry form published each Saturday in The Chronicle during the period 29 January 2011 to 21 May 2011; and
(b) “Chronicle Money” totalling at least $150,000.  A different amount of “Chronicle Money” will appear in The Chronicle each weekday during the period Monday 31 January 2011 to Friday 27 May 2011.
The completed entry form and the “Chronicle Money” must be placed in an envelope marked "Cash Bonanza Competition" and:
(a)  sent by pre-paid post to "Cash Bonanza Competition", PO Box 42, Toowoomba QLD 4350; or
(b)  delivered to The Chronicle, 618 Ruthven St, Toowoomba QLD 4350.
Contestants may submit more than one entry, but only one lucky person will have a chance to win up to $150,000.
All entry forms and “Chronicle Money” must be original newsprint, no photocopies, scanned images, web prints, reproductions or other falsified artwork will be accepted.

2. Eligibility limitations:  Contestants must be aged 18 years or older to enter.  The following persons are ineligible to enter:
i. employees of, or contractors to, the Promoter;
ii. the spouse, de facto spouse, parent, natural or adopted child, sibling (whether natural or adopted by a parent), and household members of such employees and contractors;
iii. Contestants who have used or attempted to use any more than one name in order to qualify to win any contest run by the Promoter except in the case of a legal change of name.
All Contestants acknowledge that even if the Promoter only learns of a person’s ineligibility after the Promoter has appeared to award the prize to the ineligible person, it may require the return of the prize or payment of its value to the Promoter to be dealt with as an unclaimed prize.

3. Competition duration: The competition commences Saturday 29 January 2011 and closes at 5.00pm on Wednesday 8 June 2011 (“Closure Time”).   Entries received after the Closure Time will not be eligible.

4. Prizes:  One winning contestant drawn pursuant to section 5 below will have the chance to win either $150,000 or $15,000 or $2500 or $1500. The winning contestant will be presented with 40 envelopes, each containing a card with one of the prize amounts on it. There will be 5 cards with $150,000, 6 cards with $15,000, 9 cards with $2,500 and 20 cards with $1,500. The winning contestant will continue to select and open envelopes until there are five cards of the same prize amount, and that is the prize amount won.
The maximum amount available to be won is $150,000 inclusive of GST. Any taxes which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving the prize are the sole responsibility of that winner, and the winner authorises the deduction of any such taxes from the prize to the extent required by law.  Prizes are non-transferable.  If the specified prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the Promoter may substitute a prize of similar nature and/or like or greater value.

5. Draw and notification:  The winning contestant will be selected by random draw at or around 10am on Thursday 9 June 2011.  Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  Winner’s name will be published in The Chronicle on Friday 10 June 2011. All Contestants acknowledge that the Promoter has the right to publicise and publish his / her name, character and likeness.  All contest winners must avail themselves for a photo if required by the Promoter and acknowledge that the Promoter has the right to utilise publicity photos in any reasonable manner it sees fit without compensation to the Contestant.

6. Prize collection:  The winning contestant must be available to select from the envelopes at 10am on Monday 4 July 2011 at The Chronicle office, 618 Ruthven St, Toowoomba Q 4350.  Upon request by the Promoter the winner must provide government issued photo identification and a copy of these terms and conditions and/or a signed receipt and acknowledgement must be signed and endorsed by the winner to indicate his/her understanding and acceptance of these terms. Any cash winnings will be paid by direct deposit into winner’s bank account.  It is the sole responsibility of the winner to claim their prize.  If the prize remains unclaimed 10 days after notification has been sent to the winner, it will be redrawn by random draw in an unclaimed prize draw.

7. Promoter's limitation of liability:  The Promoter is not responsible for the loss of prizes due to incorrect or imprecise personal details or delivery details provided by a winner.  The Promoter also takes no responsibility for prizes lost or stolen after they have been released for delivery via postage or courier.
The Promoter makes no representations or warranties as to the quality/suitability/merchantability of any of the goods/services offered as prizes.  To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for any loss suffered or sustained by any person including, but not limited to consequential (including economic) loss by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by the Promoter, or its servants or agents, in connection with the arrangement for supply, or the supply, of any goods or services by any person to the prize winner(s) and, where applicable, to any persons accompanying the winners.
8. Entries and privacy:  All entries become and remain the property of the Promoter (subject to the limits contained in the Privacy Statement) and may be used for marketing purposes.  We may be in touch to let you know about goods, services or promotions that may be of interest to you with special offers or in relation to our other goods and services.  By ticking the box on the entry form entrants agree to receive marketing material or be contacted by the promoter. Under the Privacy Act the names and addresses of all entrants in this competition will not be shared or distributed to other parties unless specified (as above).
