Jack's Comments: Katnook Estate has once again produced an outstanding Cabernet. It has a wonderful dark rich colour with a nose that will make you weak at the knees. This wine fills the mouth with an abundance of lively fruit. There are excellent dark berries and I got lovely plum flavours. The tannins are delicate and develop into hints of chocolate. It has a lovely lingering finish that will leave you wanting more. Simply outstanding wine! James Halliday: Medium red-purple; a wine strongly shaped by over two years in predominantly French barriques which have imparted a cedary/spicy overlay to the perfectly ripened blackcurrant fruit; good line and length. The 2008 vintage was spectacular and this is from one of the best wineries in the area. Winemaker's Comments: Oak Maturation :: The wine was matured for approximately 22 months in 225 litre oak barrels. 15% of the barrels were new French Barriques with the balance a mix of previously filled French and American oak. James Halliday :An altogether elegant wine, notwithstanding the cedar/cigar box thumbprint of 22 months in French and American oak; the medium-bodied palate has perfectly ripened cassis-accented fruit, the tannins are fine, the finish long.
