Title: 50wol $10,000 Attix prize with 56 words! Post by: colins on Thursday 07 July 2011, 02:14:02 pm Good luck getting the wheelchair and all those disabled people up the ladder and 56 words instead of 50. Me, a little jealous :? Does anyone else get just a little bit annoyed.
http://www.attix.com.au/attix-competition Our Home in WA $10,000 in-roof storage area competition has been drawn. The winner is Ms Shirl Webb from Heathridge. Shirl's entry was- 'Take 1 small 3 bed 1 bathroom house, add 2 disabled dependants, 1 partner and me who will be needing a wheelchair, we desperately need space to store belongings to allow for movement around our home. Converting our roof space to an attic storage area could be a dream come true!!!! WOW what a terrific idea!!!!' Title: Re: 50wol $10,000 Attix prize with 56 words! Post by: Jenno on Thursday 07 July 2011, 02:23:58 pm It says competition has been drawn. Do they mean they randomly drew out winner and her entry just happened to be over 50 wols? You would have to read t&c to see what they say. This particular problem seems to be occurring a lot of late.

I understand the frustration of those of us who stick stricktly to the word limit, often cutting out a good bit to do it. I always think it puts all entrants on an even playing field. Frankly this one is a bit unusual, mostly comps don't want a sad story and I wouldn't take a chance on extra WOL. I could have used this win big time but maybe this person just really needed this and was meant to get it.
Having had my own sad story a while back (over now) but writing a flippant and silly 25 WOL to win a holiday, just at breaking point, I won. It really, really wasn't that good. Maybe sometimes good things happen just because we need it so much. Title: Re: 50wol $10,000 Attix prize with 56 words! Life is not always 'fair' I guess, at least our consciences are clear for not cheating. :-) Title: Re: 50wol $10,000 Attix prize with 56 words! Post by: bubbalor on Thursday 07 July 2011, 06:35:48 pm Just read the T&C's, it doesn't matter if you chose to write 2 words, or 200 words, this entry was randomly drawn. Iy was a competition based on chance and not skill, as most WOL comps will often state it is a skill based and chance plays no part. It would also explain why this sob story entry was the winner - it's because it was a draw, most judges that have to read through thousands of WOL entries detest sob stories. It seems this person was destined to win.
