You may also know him from his previous pseudonym, Lightspeed Champion, or perhaps you remember him being crowned NME’s 20th coolest person in rock in 2008. The Houston-born, Essex-raised musician has also got an enviable CV as a songwriter and producer, having worked with The Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Florence + the Machine, Theophilus London, Solange Knowles and others, plus he counts Beyonce and Alexa Chung as friends (which makes us completely agree with his inclusion on the ‘cool’ list). He now has a new moniker, Blood Orange, and even though it’s basically just him, a guitar and a laptop, Blood Orange has been featured on Skins, and the finale of It’s On With Alexa Chung in which Hynes performed dressed as a wizard. If that doesn’t make you want to see him, we really don’t know what will.
