Giveaway – Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012
It’s no secret that in this house we love our consoles, I married a gamer and learnt early on that if I didn’t want to become an Xbox-widow I would have to learn to play at least some of the games with him. The development of good motion sensing devices dramatically changed our game play, I no longer sit with him and play games but I do monopolise our consoles far more often than I used to.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a big fan of dance games as a form of exercise – I don’t like exercise to feel like work. Once upon a time (before I married my hubby) I used to get up every morning and go to the gym before work, I’d dread it every morning but I went because I’m not one of those lucky girls with the metabolism that lets them eat whatever they want. Inevitably once I was no longer single the gym went by the wayside and especially now that I have Dexter my time is precious and I have even less incentive to get to the gym.

One of the very first games we bought for our Xbox was Your Shape Fitness Evolved. I am a huge believer in the powers of these games, when the WiiFit first came out we were gearing up for IVF and had weight to lose so thinking as only a gamer can, instead of signing up for the gym my husband went out bought one. I successfully lost 12kgs by spending 30 minutes a day on the aerobics games and very quickly became a convert to working out in the lounge room.

When we purchased our Kinect in November last year we didn’t even hesitate to add Your Shape Fitness Evolved to the cart, I had baby weight to lose and my husband had a sympathy pregnancy gut that he wanted to get rid of and for a while there we diligently worked out in front of the telly. I liked how you could set some goals and get workouts suggested, I was able to tell the game that I was wanting to lose pregnancy weight and gentler, more cardio focussed routines formed the basis of my workouts.

We had a setback when we lost our twins and I have to admit that as the cycle failures have stacked up the weight (physical and metaphorical) has stacked on so once again we’re at the point that we would like to lose some weight before going on with IVF.

Enter Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012. The sequel to the original Your Shape game has over 90 hours of new and improved content with exercises from yoga to boot camp there’s a workout for everyone. One thing I’m absolutely thrilled to see is the addition of Cardio Boxing which has to be my all time favourite way of working out, followed closely by dance which is well represented in the 2012 version with a new suite of dance classes in a range of styles.

The silly season is upon us with all of its excesses and now is the time to start looking towards how exactly you’re going to shift the bulge that arrives when you overindulge. For Kinect owners Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 is a good place to start.
