To celebrate the 2012 Mars Cycling Australia National Road Championships, SBS, Subaru and the City of Ballarat are giving you and a friend the chance to win a three-day cycling tour around Ballarat. The prize includes: - two nights accommodation (minimum 4 star) - return economy flights - three days use of the new Subaru all-wheel drive XV sports cross over, - A training session with Scott Sunderland, former sport director of Team CSC and Team Sky. Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. 2. Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 and over only. Employees of SBS, City of Ballarat, Subaru (Aust) Pty Ltd, Cycling Australia, and their immediate families are ineligible. By entering this competition, entrants will be deemed to agree with these terms of entry. 3. The SBS | City of Ballarat | Subaru - “The Nationals” Competition commences on Thursday 22nd December, 2011 at 10:00am AEDT and ends on Sunday 8th January, 2012 at 11:59pm AEDT. 4. To enter, participants must log onto www.sbs.com.au/cyclingcentral and follow the directions on the website. Participants must register their details, including (but not limited to) name, address, postcode and phone number and answer in 25 words or less the following question, “Why you would like to cycle around Ballarat with Scott Sunderland” and submit their entry by clicking on the “Enter” button. 5. Online entries are limited to one entry per email address. All entries become and remain the property of SBS. 6. SBS reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity, proof of Australian residency status at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity, in order to claim a prize. Acceptance of proof of identification, Australian residency and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of SBS. In the event that a winner cannot provide proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered. 7. Incomprehensible and incomplete entries will be deemed invalid. MAJOR PRIZE: 8. The major prize winner will receive the following (“Major Prize”): A three (3) day cycling tour for two (2) around Ballarat, the home of the Mars Cycling Australia National Open Road Championships valued at up to AU$9,400 (variation 3depending on departure city). • The trip includes return economy airfares to Melbourne from the winner’s nearest capital city including costs associated with freight of two (2) bikes each weighing under 23kg (valued at up to approximately AU$4100) • Two (2) nights twin share accommodation at a 4 star or above property in Ballarat (valued at up to AU$600) SBS | City of Ballarat | Subaru Competition 2 • Use of a Subaru XV compact SUV for 3 days coinciding with the City of Ballarat’s accommodation and flights, and Scott Sunderland’s availability. The vehicle will be fitted with roof racks for two bicycles (suitable for bmx, road, or mtn bike) and available, fully fuelled and insured for an over 18 legal driver, to pick up and return at Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport or in the case of the winner being in Victoria at the closest Subaru dealer location or Eurocar hire car location. In case of an accident, the winner will be responsible for the insurance excess whether at fault or not as per standard insurance terms and conditions. (prize portion valued up to $1500) • a cycling tour or training session with Cycling Australia’s Scott Sunderland around Ballarat for a half day (valued up to $3200) The Major Prize is valued at up to AU$9,400 (variation depending on departure city). It is the responsibility of the winner to supply bikes for themselves and their guest to participate in the cycling session and/or tour around Ballarat If the winner chooses to fly with bikes, each bike must be under 23kg. The number of bikes covered is 1 per airline seat with a maximum of 2 seats. Any additional excess luggage is the responsibility of the winner The winner’s guest must also be aged over the age of 18. 9. All valid entries are automatically entered into the Major Prize draw. The Major Prize winner, and in lieu of winner being non-contactable a runner-up, will be selected by a selection panel comprised of employees of the SBS, 14 Herbert St, Artarmon, NSW, 2064 on Monday 24th January, 2012 12:00pm noon AEDT. The City of Ballarat, The Pheonix, 25 Armstrong St South, Ballarat, VIC 3350, will provide a shortlist of the top ten best entries for SBS. The Major Prize winner will be notified by phone and email. The name of the winner will be published on the SBS Cycling Central website and published in The Australian on Monday 31st January, 2012. 10. If the Major Prize winner cannot be contacted by Monday, 6th February, 2012, 10:00am AEDT, then the runner up will be announced as the winner and awarded the Major Prize. The winner will be notified by phone and email. The name of the winner will be published on the SBS Cycling Central website, and published in The Australian on Monday, 13th February 2012. 11. All prizes are as depicted or described in the promotions for the competition and are not subject to change. 12. SBS accepts no responsibility for any loss, damages, or injury incurred to enter the competition or in connection with taking up the prizes. 13. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. 14. Once prizes have left the prize suppliers’ premises, we take no responsibility for prizes damaged, delayed or lost in transit. TRAVEL PRIZE 15. Once booked and if approved by the prize suppliers, any changes may incur a cancellation fee or amendment fee at the cost of the winner. The winner of the SBS | City of Ballarat | Subaru Competition 3 prize (and their travel companion) will not accrue any frequent flyer points from taking the prize. 16. Travel must be completed as set out below. If travel has not been completed within this time period, tickets shall be deemed null and void. Bookings are subject to availability and are not re-routable. Once tickets have been issued they cannot be changed. The prize must be booked through City of Ballarat. The prize must be booked no later than Monday 30th April 2012. Entrants must be able to travel during 2012 at dates agreed with the prize suppliers: City of Ballarat and Cycling Australia. 17. Neither SBS nor City of Ballarat, Subaru (Aust) Pty Ltd, Cycling Australia or their associated companies will be held liable for any loss, damage or injury of the results directly or indirectly from the winner taking part in any aspect of the Prize. Where relevant, the winner agrees that they take full responsibility for any activities engaged in while travelling and engaging in the prize package. The Major Prize winner is responsible for all costs not expressly listed as being included in the Major Prize, including without limitation, meals, entertainment, other travel and accommodation, transfers, passports, visas, re-entry permits, spending money, freights, excess baggage, government taxes, departure taxes, ground transportation any tax liabilities, airport charges, any applicable surcharges and any other related costs. Travel insurance is not included in the prize and will be the responsibility of the winner(s). Travel insurance is highly recommended to protect against the additional costs incurred in the event of unforeseen circumstances. 18. The Major Prize DOES NOT include spending money. 19. Travel arrangements to and from the winner’s nearest capital city airport do not form part of the prize and are the responsibility of the winner. 20. The prize winner and their travelling companion must travel on the same flight as each other to their destination. 21. It is the responsibility of the winner to enquire about local issues and conditions at destinations before travel. 22. Neither SBS nor City of Ballarat, Subaru (Aust) Pty Ltd, Cycling Australia or their associated companies is responsible, to the extent permitted by law, for acts of god, acts of terrorism or war (declared or undeclared) or other events beyond SBS, City of Ballarat, Subaru (Aust) Pty Ltd, and Cycling Australia’s control which prevent awarding or acceptance of the prize in accordance with the prize description. FINAL CONDITIONS 23. Prize values are based upon the recommended retail prices at the time of printing (inclusive of GST). SBS accepts no responsibility for change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date. 24. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and the prize supplier’s requirements. 25. SBS, City of Ballarat, Subaru (Aust) Pty Ltd, and Cycling Australia assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or SBS | City of Ballarat | Subaru Competition 4 unauthorised access to, or alterations of entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, due to causes including, but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the promoter reserves the rights in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition. Subject to state regulations. 26. This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the winner. Each entry will be individually judged, based upon literary and creative merit. All entries must be the original independent creation of the entrant and free of any claims that they infringe any third party rights. 27. If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate. 30.
