2012 "Tribute to Elvis" Competition The "Tribute to Elvis" is a highlight of the Festival, providing an opportunity for Australian Elvis Tribute Artists to showcase their skills in this always hotly contested competition. Amazing Performances happen every year. Join the Competition or the audience as contestants give their very own special tribute to the King on the Essential Energy Main Stage. For more information about the competition, click here Great prizes are on offer for the overall winner and runnerup PLUS the chance for 3 ETA's to participate in the closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon When: Saturday 14th January at 2pm Where: Cooke Park Main Stage Entry fee: $20 Prizes: First place: $500 cash, trophy, an exclusive Parkes Elvis Festival Ring and a Pro Jump Suit to the value of $1000 Runnerup: $300 cash, trophy plus an exclusive Parkes Elvis Festival Ring You can register by downloading an entry form and returning it in the mail or registering in person at the Cooke Park Registration Booth. Your song and costume must match the era selected or else it will classed as Freestyle 1. The 50's era - Elvis as a young performer. 2. The 60's era - Movies, GI Elvis, the 69 Special 3. The 70's era - The Vegas Days 4. Freestyle – Different costume for the song era, original songs, humorous (Must be Elvis Themed) COMPETITION Competition Details • A “Freestyle” section has been included if an entrant cannot meet the requirements of the “50’s”, “60’s” and “70’s” themes • The first two (2) place getters will be required to perform a 15 minute bracket each at the Cooke Park Stage on Sunday afternoon, 15th January 2012 • Three (3) "wildcard" ETA's will be selected by the judges to perform in the closing ceremony to be held at the Cooke Park Stage at 3.50pm Sunday, 9th January • You may nominate for the chance to perform in the closing ceremony on the registration form Repetitive Songs • To avoid repetition, "American Trilogy" and "My Way", shall be reserved exclusively for the winner’s performance in the “Tribute to Elvis Winner’s Performance” on Sunday 9th January. • The overall winner will be given the option to perform both songs. If the overall winner does not wish to perform one or both songs, then the second place winner shall have the choice to perform the song or songs that have not been sung by the winner. • Refer to our website for more information regarding repetitive songs and song choices. CountryLink Parkes Elvis Festival 11th – 15th January 2012 Parkes Elvis Revival Inc October 1st, 2010 Page 2 “Tribute To Elvis” Competition Seniors Rule and Regulations JUDGING Judging the “50's”, “60's” & “70's” themes ETA’s will be expected to dress in accordance with the period of the theme nominated on their entry form • Vocals: Ability of the ETA to match the sound and quality of Elvis’s voice. • Appearance: Ability to match the look, styles and movement of Elvis in the specific era represented • Performance: Ability to perform as Elvis in a style in which he would have performed. • Stage Presence: Ability to re-create the charisma Elvis created when performing on stage. Judging the “Freestyle” themes • Vocals: The sound and quality of the contestant’s voice. • Appearance: The look, styles and movement of the contestant. • Performance: Ability to give a performance as a professional entertainer • Stage Presence: Ability to capture and hold an audience’s interest with the performance SCORING • Judges will score 1 to 10 in each of the judging criteria (10 being the highest score) • The scores will be totalled and the contestant with the most points is the winner. • In the event of a tie between ETA’s, a "sing off" between the tied ETA’s will take place until a clear winner is found by the judging panel. REGISTRATION All Registrations • The following must be included with your registration form at the time of registering or by mail when registering for an early bird registration • A fully completed Registration form showing the song and theme • A maximum of ten (10) songs of your choice excluding "American Trilogy" and "My Way". CountryLink Parkes Elvis Festival 11th-15th January 2012 Parkes Elvis Revival Inc October 1st, 2010 Page 3 “Tribute To Elvis” Competition Seniors Rule and Regulations • List the songs and category in your preference 1 to 10 (1 being your preferred choice, 10 being least preferred • The applicable registration fee of $20.00 • If providing a CD as a backing track, also provide the track number on the CD • If using the band, nominate the song from the preset list and the key you wish to sing in • Songs may be a mix of CD backing tracks and/or the band preset song list. • To help reduce the number of repetitive songs, entries are considered on a "first in, first choice" basis. Early Bird Registration is advised.
