Sharing a book with your child for 10 minutes a day, an hour a week is our aim for The Reading Hour on the 25 August 2012.
 
We know it's not always possible for parents to share a book at bedtime with their children, but if you can manage 10 minutes most nights, your child will have the best chance of becoming a good reader, with all the social and educational benefits that brings.
 
Up to 90% of a child's brain development occurs in the first 5 years, so it's not enough to assume that your children will learn to read when they get to school. Parents need to share stories and rhymes right from day one - and a good way of finding out more is to join storytimes, rhymetimes, baby bounce and toddler sessions at your local library.

The Reading Hour - Win an iPad Competition
 

The Reading Hour kicks off Saturday August 25th 6pm-7pm when people from all over Australia will simultaneously read with their children.
 
To be in the running to win a new iPad, simply send us a photo of yourself reading with your child (under 12) during The Reading Hour & you could win!
 
Entries must be received by 10am Monday September 3rd 2012
 
To enter the competition:
 
1. Take a digital photo of yourself reading with your child (aged under 12) on Saturday August 25th 2012 between 6pm-7pm
 
2. Ensure the photo is no larger than 1MB and email the photo by 10am Monday September 3rd 2012 to this address: promotions@plain.net.au 
 
3. In your email, please ensure that you provide your full name, address & contact phone number (this personal information is only collected to contact the winner and will be destroyed at the end of the promotion)
A winner will be randomly drawn from entries received.
 
Please note:
 •Limit of one entry per person permitted
 •Entry to this competition is open to residents of South Australia aged 16 years or over only, excluding:
 ◦employees of Public Library Services and their immediate families
 ◦employees of public libraries in South Australia and their immediate families

The Reading Hour - Win an iPad Competition (the Promotion)
 
Information on the prize and entry details form part of the terms and conditions of entry. Entry into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
 
The promoter is Public Library Services, the State Library, Department of the Premier and Cabinet of North Terrace, Adelaide SA 5000.
 

ELIGIBILITY
 
Entry to this competition is open to residents of South Australia aged 16 years or over only, excluding:
 •employees of Public Library Services and their immediate families
 •employees of public libraries in South Australia and their immediate families
 •Note: where 'immediate family' means a spouse, de facto partner, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of the employe
 

By entering the competition, you:
 •agree that your submitted photo may be used for promotional purposes
 •consent to your image and the image of your child being used for promotional purposes
 

To enter the competition:

Only entries that are received between 6pm Saturday August 25th 2012 and 10am September 3rd 2012 will be eligible for entry.
 
Public Library Services reserves the right to request proof of identity of the person claiming the prize and/or proof that the person claiming the prize has complied with the Promotion's terms & conditions. Proof considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of Public Library Services. In the event that the person claiming the prize cannot provide suitable proof of identity or proof of compliance with the Promotion's terms & conditions, Public Library Services in its absolute discretion may disqualify this person.
 
All times specified refer to South Australia time zone.
 

DETAILS OF PRIZES
 
The New Apple iPad Wi-Fi 16GB (without 3G capability) is the prize. This model is valued at approximately $539.
 
The winner of the prize will be randomly drawn from the entries received.
 
If the prize is unavailable, Public Library Services, at its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize with another prize to the equal value and/or specification.
 
Public Library Services reserves the right to forfeit the prize in the event of a drawn entrant being unable to satisfy the Promotion terms and conditions or not being contactable or not claiming a prize within a 14 day time-frame following the prize draw/announcement. In these scenarios, Public Library Services, at its discretion, reserves the right to conduct a re-draw of the prize.
 

WINNER NOTIFICATION
 
The winners will be notified by phone or email on Monday September 3rd 2012.
 
 
OTHER
 
No responsibility is accepted for late or lost entries. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected mail or courier transit when prizes are forwarded to the winner.
 
Any costs associated with entering the competition is the entrant's responsibility.
 
Travel costs are not included and not part of the prize description.
 
The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
 
All contestants release from and indemnify Public Library Services against all liability cost.
