"STAR MART PIE LOVE" PROMOTION
 
TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Information on how to enter and the prize(s) form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

2. Entry is only open to Australian residents. Entrants under 18 years old must have parental/guardian approval to enter and further, the parent/guardian of the entrant must read and consent to these Terms and Conditions. Parents/guardians may be required by the Promoter to enter into a further agreement as evidence of consent to the minor entering this promotion.

3. Promotion commences at 12noon AEST on 17/08/2012 and ends at 5:00pm AEST on 31/08/2012 ("Promotional Period"). All entries after this date will be deemed invalid.

4. Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or 1st cousin.

5. To enter for a chance to win a year's supply of Mrs Mac hot pies Facebook users must vote for their favourite pie on the Star Mart Pie Love Facebook app and complete their details and 'in 25 words or less why does your pie deserve the top spot'

6. Only one (1) entry permitted per person. Must be 25 words or less

7. Winner will be notified in writing by email and their name will be announced on the news feed section of the Star Mart Facebook Page. The Promoter's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

8. All entries will be reviewed on the 3rd September 2012 and the winner will be contacted within 10 days via their given email. A member of the Caltex Brand team will judge and choose the winner. The winning entry will be selected based how Star Mart has answered their moment of need.  The winner and their submission will be published on Facebook shortly after.

9. Once verified the winner will be contacted and prize redemption will be confirmed. Prize will be awarded in the form of a voucher to the value of $1,000 valid for Mrs Mac Pies at over 1,800 Caltex and Star Marts across Australia. The voucher is a StarCash card and is valid for 12 months and comes with a pin number for security purposes.

10. Any ancillary costs associated with redeeming the prize are not included. Any unused balance the voucher will not be awarded as cash. Redemption of the $1,000 StarCash card is subject to any terms and conditions of the issuer including those specified on their website .

11. If a winner of a prize is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to the winner's nominated parent or guardian on the winner's behalf.

12. Total prize pool value is $1,000.  Prizes, or any unused portion of a prize, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. The prize is valid for 12 months.

13. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the State and Territories of Australia ("Non-Excludable Guarantees"). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.

14. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter's control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (f) use of a prize.

15. The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Entry is conditional on providing this information. The Promoter may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the information for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages or telephoning the entrant. Entrants should direct any request to opt out, access, update or correct information to the Promoter. All entries become the property of the Promoter.

16. Entry and continued participation in the promotion is dependent on entrants following and acting in accordance with the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, which can be viewed at www.facebook.com/terms.php.

17. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. Entrants understand that they are providing their information to the Promoter and not to Facebook. The information an entrant provides will only be used for the purposes outlined in these Terms and Conditions. Any questions, comments or complaints about this promotion must be directed to the Promoter and not to Facebook.

18. The laws of Australia apply to this promotion to the exclusion of any other law.  Entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.

Has anyone else had a problem entering the 25 words in this comp.  I am only able to get 12 words and then it will not let me go any further, Have tried several browsers with the same result??

I'm sure I entered successfully.  Sometimes these things don't like any sort of punctuation marks of any sort.  Try removing some (or all) and see if goes through

I received the following message after attempting to submit my entry, "Please enter no more than 80 characters."

I think that is the problem!  It says 25 words in the terms and conditions but it will only take 80 characters which is probably only about 10 or 12 words!

I kept my answer short and sweet and had no problem entering.

 Received message from them saying that technical issues were the problem, and that it would be fixed today!  Just entered and it is ok.

They deleted my original entry so I could enter the 25wol as stated

That's a nice idea, MissTree!  I was wondering what I'd do with all those pies myself, and I don't exactly need to be eating them all by myself(lol)! :D

I wonder if they would actually give you a $1000 worth of pies or a $1000 gift card?  I once won a competition that was a years supply of an energy drink...but instead they sent me a $500 gift card - maybe to save on postage?

I don't think my figure could ever forgive me if I ate $1000 worth of pies!

I'm pretty sure it would be a StarCash card you could use for fuel or in the convenience store. With 1800 stores there's no way they would give you a voucher as it would be too confusing for the generally casual staff to understand.
