ALASKA AURORA VACATION CONTEST RULES


1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

2. The presenting sponsor and administrator of the Sweepstakes is Alaska.org, having an address of 507 E Street, Suite, 206, Anchorage Alaska 99501.

3. The Sweepstakes begins at 6:00:00 p.m. AST on June 1, 2012 (the "Start Date") and ends at 10:59:59 p.m. AST on September 29, 2012 (the "End Date").

4. The Sweepstakes is open only to persons who are 18 years of age or older and have a valid e-mail address.

5. One grand prize winner will receive a 6-day trip for 2 people to Alaska. The winner will receive round-trip airfare to Alaska on Alaska Airlines from an Alaska Airlines gateway city, round-trip train tickets between Anchorage and Fairbanks on The Alaska Railroad, 2 nights of accommodation in Anchorage at Springhill Suites by Marriott, 1 night of accommodation in Fairbanks at the Springhill Suites by Marriott, and a 3-day/2-night Arctic Circle northern lights viewing tour with Northern Alaska Tour Company. All travel must occur between November, 2012 and April, 2013. The local Alaska travel experts at Alaska.org will assist the winner in planning and booking their itinerary.

The grand prize winning couple must travel on the same dates and itinerary, including flights, train, hotel, and northern lights tour. The winning couple will share a double occupancy hotel room.

Availability of all components cannot be guaranteed within the desired travel dates. Travel dates will be subject to availability.

6. The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.

7. The Prize cannot be redeemed for cash and may not be substituted or transferred by the winner.

8. There are 2 ways to enter the Sweepstakes: a) go to www.facebook.com/alaskatravel nd follow the submission directions; b) gain one additional entry for each facebook friend that enters the sweepstakes after clicking on the entrant's shared link.

9.Alaska.org and its partners are not responsible for telecommunications, network, electronic, technical or computer failures of any kind, including any which may affect your entry or the Sweepstakes. Entries that are generated by a script, macro, or other automated means are prohibited and such entries and/or those otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules are disqualified. All entries received by facsimile are disqualified. Alaska.org shall have the absolute right to determine if an entry is in compliance with these Official Rules without notice to the person attempting to enter.

10. By entering the Sweepstakes, each participant warrants that he or she has read and agrees to abide by these Official Rules and that he or she is not prohibited from participating in the Sweepstakes. Each participant agrees to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Alaska.org and its affiliates, shareholders, employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, advertising and promotion agencies and prize suppliers from any liability arising from or related to the Sweepstakes, including without limitation, personal injury, death, property damage, or claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.

11. Employees and agents, including their family (parents, children, siblings, spouse) and members of their household (whether or not related), of Alaska.org, or any other business affiliates, parent companies, distributors, divisions, agencies or of any related entity, including any consultants to Alaska.org, are not eligible to participate in the Sweepstakes.

12. The winner will be determined by a random selection conducted by Alaska.org from among all eligible entries on September 30, 2012. All results of the selection are final and binding, subject to Paragraph 13 below.

13. In the event a winning entry is discovered to be invalid for any reason whatsoever or the person who submitted the winning entry fails to comply with these Official Rules prior to delivery of the prize, the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. The winner may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility and compliance with the rules and to allow the use of their names or photographs in future promotions.

14. If by reason of a printing or other error, more prizes are claimed than the number set forth in these Official Rules, all persons making purportedly valid claims will be included in a computerized random selection to award the advertised number of prizes available. No more than the advertised number of prizes will be awarded.

15. Attempts to notify the winner will be made by e-mail only within 3 days of the computerized random selection. Alaska.org is not responsible for telecommunications, network, electronic, technical or computer failures or delivery problems of any kind. If unable to make contact with the winner within 7 days after Alaska.org first attempts to notify the winner, the Prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Once the winner is notified, he/she will have an additional 10 days to plan and finalize reservations for the package, working with the local travel experts at Alaska.org.

16. WINNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPORTING AND PAYING ANY AND ALL INCOME, SALES OR EXCISE TAXES THAT MAY APPLY; SPONSOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR AND WILL NOT PAY ANY SUCH TAXES.

17. By entering the Sweepstakes, participants consent to the use of their name, likeness, image and biographical data for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.

18. Alaska.org reserves the right to terminate the Sweepstakes or modify any rules as necessary for any reason or as required by applicable law. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify from the Sweepstakes, and ban from any future sweepstakes, any person it believes to have intentionally violated these Official Rules or tampered with any element of the Sweepstakes without notice to the disqualified and/or banned person.

19. All entry information and materials become the property of Alaska.org and will not be returned.

20. This contest is conducted in Alaska. The construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Alaska.org in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of Alaska. By entering the contest, entrants agree that any legal action resulting from this Sweepstakes shall be brought only in a court of competent jurisdiction located in the Third Judicial District of Alaska.

21. To obtain a list of the official winner (after the conclusion of the Sweepstakes), send a self-addressed envelope with the proper postage affixed to: Winner, "Alaska Aurora Vacation Sweepstakes," 507 E Street, Suite 206, Anchorage Alaska 99501. Please be certain to specify that you are requesting the "Official Winner List for the Alaska Aurora Vacation Sweepstakes."

Good comp - I'm just wondering if this one's open to Australian residents? 

(I just checked the Alaska Airlines website and it doesn't look like they fly from Australia   :? )

I was thinking the same thing - could be an expensive exercise making your way to an " Alaska Airlines gateway city".

I entered, as I could not find mention of the comp NOT being international and the prize IS from one of their 'gateway cities', which I took to mean it was an international comp.  I am not sure about the location of the gateway cities, either, but am hoping it would not be impossible to find a return ticket to the nearest one to claim the prize!  Destinations for the airline include Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Mexico, and I'm guessing they, along with others, are 'gateway cities.' I guess I'd factor it in to taking another trip if I was lucky enough to win!  Anyway, I found the comp, so thought I'd post it...
