Each year from June to November, Point Lookout becomes the perfect vantage point for land-based whale watching.

The majestic humpback whales pass the North Gorge headland on their annual migration from Antarctica to their calving grounds near the Great Barrier Reef. The whales are now returning south and you will have the opportunity to see the mothers with their calves frolicking in the waters. From the headlands, the breathtaking views stretch across the Pacific Ocean as far as the eye can see. Turtles, dolphins and manta-rays can be seen all year round.

The beaches are all easily accessible, each one boasting its own unique attributes, making them popular with surfers, swimmers and fishermen. Main and Cylinder beaches are both patrolled daily and are well known to surfing enthusiasts.
